Once the warranty terminates or expires, manufacturers may or may not roll out software updates for the device. If you’ve bought a phone in 2014 (or before that), it is very likely that your phone is running on the outdated Android Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The phone manufacturer may not release Android Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, or Pie update for your device unless they find some serious security flaws in the existing software. Being an open-source operating system, developers can go through the code or make changes to the Android OS. If the developer has good programming skills, he can launch a forked version of Android with new features. The customized OS is known as ROM. Developers introduce ROMs for old devices. They don’t launch ROMs for new handsets because the latest devices always have the latest version of Android. Hence, if your mobile device runs on an outdated OS, you can flash a ROM compatible with your device to enjoy the latest features. What are the Best Android ROMS? CyanogenMod/Lineage OS Paranoid Android ROM MIUI Mokee ROM AOKP ROM Pixel Experience. What are the Best Android ROMS? CyanogenMod/Lineage OS. Lineage OS previously known as CyanogenMod is one of the most powerful and fastest Android ROMS. Many people (including me) believe that Lineage OS is better than the stock Android 6/7/8/9 OS. CM/Lineage OS provides a large number of customization options. The ROM enables you to define smart gestures. It offers several battery saving modes and allows users to create different user profiles. It has a powerful theme engine that gives users unlimited access to 100s of cool themes. The ROM provides an option to enable or disable the root mode. The USP of the Lineage OS ROM is its great UI and stable processes. The Lineage OS ROM hardly results in over-heating of the phone. The development team behind the CyanogenMod ROM introduces updates on a daily basis. If your phone supports CM, install it. Note: Lineage OS is the new name of CyanogenMod. Unlike CM, Lineage OS supports many Android smartphones. Paranoid Android ROM. Paranoid is a beautiful ROM that packs plenty of unique features. It has an intelligent notification system that enables users to read notifications as soon as the app generates them. It provides an immersive mode that hides annoying interfaces introduced by the Android OS. Paranoid ROM ships with a special feature called Peek that allows users to get a glimpse of notifications when the phone is in a locked state. It has dynamic interfaces that you can merge as per your requirements. The Android ROM renders a beautiful theme on your home screen. It relies on CyanogenMod’s theme engine for the same. MIUI is a free ROM developed and maintained by Xiaomi. Every mobile phone Xiaomi has introduced to date sails on MIUI. Some developers have released MIUI for other devices. Hence, if your phone supports MIUI, install it. The earlier edition of MIUI suffered from few issues. The latest version of MIUI delivers butter smooth performance and ensures a brilliant Android experience. The ROM is based on the stock Android operating system. It ships with a theme center app, with which you can download various types of themes and discover cool new HD wallpapers. MIUI offers a beautiful lock screen and has a nice launcher with big HD icons. Mokee ROM. Yet another widely used ROM, the Mokee project is based on CyanogenMod OS. The developers tweaked the ROM a bit and added a few unique features as well. Mokee ROM is constantly in development. If you install its nightly version, you’ll get OTA updates for Mokee every day. This ROM is for users with a device that doesn’t support CM ROM. I’m one of the users of Mokee. The ROM is stable, fast, and works well on low-end phones. AOKP ROM. If you have a phone manufactured by HTC, Sony, OPPO, OnePlus, Motorola, Asus, or HTC, you should try out the AOKP ROM. AOKP is the ultimate ROM for customization lovers. It lets you define shortcuts, swipe gestures, and has the option to create custom toggles. AOKP allows users to specify custom vibration patterns. It offers a special interface called the “navigation ring”. The ROM enables users to add up to five applications in the ring. Pixel Experience. Pixel Experience is a great alternative to the ROMS I’ve shared above. It is open-source and features the cool boot animation, fonts, wallpapers, etc that you will find in the Google Pixel smartphones. Pixel Experience is available for various smartphones launched by many popular which include Asus, OncePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola, etc. According to its developers, Pixel Experience is a stable ROM. How to install the best Android ROMS? Installing a ROM is not as easy as it seems to be. You must root your Android device and install the TWRP tool. Before rooting the phone, back up your important files. After installing TWRP, place the ZIP file of the ROM and Google Apps on the MicroSD card. Then, open TWRP and select the wipe option. Now, tap the advanced wipe option and run the following tools: Dalvik/ART cache. Cache. System. Data. Swipe the button with arrow icons to the right and head over to the main screen. Tap the install option and locate the ZIP file (ROM). Finally, select the Install Image option. Restart your phone and install the best root apps for Android. Final thoughts : Android ROMS come in handy when the manufacturer of a mobile phone is not releasing updates on a regular basis. If your phone runs on outdated OS, download and flash one of the ROMS I’ve mentioned above to use the latest features of the Android operating system. Real Custom ROM. Real Custom ROM is an app that can help you root your device in the easiest way possible. This app lets you search through an extensive catalog of ROMs according to the brand and model of your Android, so you can find what you need no matter what device you use. The interface in Real Custom ROM is divided into categories, which in turn, are divided into tabs. The first tab, 'some devices,' lets you search for the brand and model of your phone, to then download the specific ROM you need with just one tap. Once downloaded, you can start the rooting process. The other categories are mostly links to the most popular websites with information about rooting. Thanks to the extensive information gathered in this app, you can stay informed about the latest updates if you're interested in the topic or collect basic and advanced information if you're trying to get started in this field. With Real Custom ROM you can stay up-to-date on all the latest ROMs for any device and update instantly. 5 Best Custom ROMs for Android in 2021. We already know that Android phones are very much customizable. OEMs give tons of options when it comes to customization. Companies like Xiaomi, Realme and OnePlus have baked a lot of features in their Android skins. Here’s a caveat, all these smartphone OEMs provide their phones’ software updates for a maximum of two years. Or even in the best scenario that is Oneplus, they give three years of security updates and two major Android updates. But, what about after that tenure ends. After that, all these phones don’t get any new updates from OEMs. So no new features are added on smartphones. If we talk about budget phones they don’t even get one major update of Android. So, here’s a solution for all those who want to try the latest Android version in 2021 and run the latest security patches along with some cool new features and customizations. The custom ROMs are the way for it. These are far better than the stock ROMs which come with the phone. The developer support is very strong and the community of these ROMs are very much strong on Telegram. They reply and give support all the time, whether you have stuck in flashing a ROM or you are facing any bug. Below is the list of Top 5 custom ROMs available for almost all the Android devices in 2021. What is Custom ROM? A custom Android ROMs is a third-party developed OS by a developer and mostly it is published on XDA-labs. The custom ROMs have different versions supporting different phones. Most of the ROMs have the support of almost all famous phones. Users can give a try if the developers support their phones or not.

This is attributable to the strong cooperation between smart phones and the mobile Internet, capitalizing on the rapid development of mobile terminal functions. The mobile Internet is the underlying contributor to the competitive environment of the entire Chinese smartphone industry. Xiaomi began its operations with the launch of its Android-based firmware MIUI (pronounced “Me You I”) in August 2010; a modified and hardcoded user interface, incorporating features from Apple’s IOS and Samsung’s TouchWizUI. As of 2018, Xiaomi is the world’s fourth largest smartphone manufacturer, and it has expanded its products and services to include a wider range of consumer electronics and a smart home device ecosystem. It is a company focused on developing new- generation smartphone software, and Xiaomi operated a successful mobile Internet business. Xiaomi has three core products: Mi Chat, MIUI and Xiaomi smartphones. This paper will use business management models from PEST, Porter’s five forces and SWOT to analyze the internal and external environment of Xiaomi. Finally, the paper evaluates whether Xiaomi has a strategic model of sustainable development, strategic flaws and recommend some suggestions to overcome them.

  • Living Without Google on Android
Alternative for Google Apps on Android - living without Google on Android Android without any Google App? What to use instead of Hangouts, Map, Gmail? Is that even possible? And why would anyone want to live without Google? I've been using a lot of different custom ROMs on my devices, so far the two best: plain Cyanogenmod 11 snapshot on the Nexus 4[^1], and MIUI 2.3.2 on the HTC Desire G7[^2]. All the others ( MUIU 5, MIUI 6 unofficial, AOKP, Kaos, Slim, etc ) were either ugly, unusable, too strange or exceptionally problematic on battery life. For a long time, the first step for me was to install the Google Apps, gapps packages for Plays Store, Maps, and so on, but lately they require so much rights on the phone that I started to have a bad taste about them. Then I started to look for alternatives. 1 of 5 So, what to replace with what? Play Store I've been using F-Droid[^3] as my primary app store for a while now, but since it's strictly Free Software[^4] store only, sometimes there's just no app present for your needs; aptoide[^5] comes very handy in that cases. Hangouts I never liked Hangouts since the move from Gtalk although for a little while it was exceptional for video - I guess it ended when the mass started to use it in replacement of Skype and its recent suckyness. For chat only, check out: ChatSecure[^6], Conversations[^7] or Xabber[^8]. All of them is good for Gtalk-like, oldschool client and though Facebook can be configured as XMPP as well, I'd recommend Xabber for that, the other two is a bit flaky with Facebook.

  • Download Android Os for Phone Open Source Mobile OS Alternatives to Android
download android os for phone Open Source Mobile OS Alternatives To Android. It’s no exaggeration to say that open source operating systems rule the world of mobile devices. Android is still an open-source project, after all. But, due to the bundle of proprietary software that comes along with Android on consumer devices, many people don’t consider it an open source operating system. So, what are the alternatives to Android? iOS? Maybe, but I am primarily interested in open-source alternatives to Android. I am going to list not one, not two, but several alternatives, Linux-based mobile OSes . Top Open Source alternatives to Android (and iOS) Let’s see what open source mobile operating systems are available. Just to mention, the list is not in any hierarchical or chronological order . 1. Plasma Mobile. A few years back, KDE announced its open source mobile OS, Plasma Mobile. Plasma Mobile is the mobile version of the desktop Plasma user interface, and aims to provide convergence for KDE users. It is being actively developed, and you can even find PinePhone running on Manjaro ARM while using KDE Plasma Mobile UI if you want to get your hands on a smartphone. 2. postmarketOS. PostmarketOS (pmOS for short) is a touch-optimized, pre-configured Alpine Linux with its own packages, which can be installed on smartphones. The idea is to enable a 10-year life cycle for smartphones. You probably already know that, after a few years, Android and iOS stop providing updates for older smartphones. At the same time, you can run Linux on older computers easily.

I find it easiest to setup a directory for adb platform tools, then place the Lineage files there or any other files you need to sideload. For Windows you can open the command prompt at that location by hitting control and right click inside that directory window, scroll down to find the console start or power shell start here. Then everything will work (no file not found, or command not found errors). Forget about messing with the path command, for simplicity, the sideloaded files needs to be this way anyway.
