GU won the previous meeting between the schools in 1992. Montana State is off to one of the best starts in school history as the Bobcats have FAX posted an 8-0 record. MSU will open up conference play at Portland State (509) 323-5730 and Eastern Washington this weekend before playing Gonzaga on the trip home. MSU currently ranks fourth in the nation in team blocking with Karin Lundqvist ranking 8th in the nation at 1.88 blocks per game. Dave Gantt is in his 12th season as head coach. DAVIS EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS: Freshman Christina Davis (Idaho Falls, ID) was named to the Gameworks/UNLV Invitational All- Tournament team after Gonzaga posted a 2-1 record at the event. Davis had 44 kills during the three games including a season-high 24 kills in the five- game win over UNLV. She also had 37 digs and seven aces. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – SEPTEMBER 17, 2001 WINDLIN-JANSEN ENTERS SIXTH SEASON: Head coach Eva Windlin- Jansen enters her sixth season guiding the Gonzaga volleyball program. An assistant coach during the 1996 season, Windlin-Jansen was named interim head coach with eight matches remaining in the season. The Bulldogs finished 5-3 and Windlin-Jansen was named head coach following the season. The 1989 University of Oregon graduate has compiled a 36-101 record during her tenure with the Zags. 2001 Zags Volleyball Schedule DATE OPPONENT TIME CHROUSTOVSKA ENTERS RECORD BOOK: Junior setter Katerina 8/31 Cougar Challenge Chroustovska etched her name in the Gonzaga single match record book Boise State W 3-1 #12 Univ. of the Pacific L 0-3 during the Zags three game sweep over Western Carolina. Chroustovska 9/1 Cougar Challlenge Washington State L 0-3 passed out 47 assists in the win, which ties her for fifth on the single match list. Bradley L 1-3 The three game single match assist record is 59 set by Erica Cordy during the 9/4 Montana L 0-3 1990 season. 9/7 UNLV Classic UNLV W 3-2 GOING THE DISTANCE: Gonzaga experienced its first five game match of the 9/8 UNLV Classic season on Friday night as the Zags outlasted UNLV in a five-game marathon. American L 3-2 Western Carolina W 3-0 The Zags prevailed by winning the fifth game by a 15-10 score. The team did 9/12 WASHINGTON Cancelled not get much rest before playing in its second five game match of the season as they opened Saturday morning play with a five game loss to American. 9/14 SPIKEOFF SPOKANE Cancelled Gonzaga lost the final game against the Eagles 15-7. The Zags finished with a 10/5 * Santa Clara 7 p.m. .365 attack percentage finishing with 63 kills compared to just 44 for Western 10/6 * San Francisco 7 p.m. 10/12 * SAINT MARY’S 7 p.m. Carolina. Jamie VanMeetren had a career-high 20 kills during the win as four 10/13 * SAN DIEGO 7 p.m. players finished with double-digit kills. Cullen is averaging 0.97 blocks per game with eight solo blocks 11/9 * San Diego 7 p.m. 11/10 * Saint Mary’s 7 p.m. and 20 blocks assisted. Junior outside hitter Zuzana Tumova currently ranks 11/17 * PORTLAND 7 p.m. second on the squad with 24 blocks and a 0.80 blocks per game average.
