NOTICE OF RACE

Open Dutch Class Championship 2019 & & Hobie Cat Holland Challenge Cup 2019 September 14 and 15 , 2019

Organised by Watersportvereniging Zandvoort Location: Zandvoort, The Netherlands.

Organising authority: Watersportvereniging Zandvoort, under auspices of the Royal Netherlands Union (RNYU) and the Hobie Cat Klasse Associatie Nederland (HCKAN).

1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of 2017-2020 (RRS) 1.2 The Rules for Championships Sailing, and Kiteboarding will apply. 1.3 The prescriptions of the RNYU (Watersportverbond) will apply. 1.4 The Class rules of the International Hobie Cat Association (IHCA) will apply. 1.5 The sailing instructions may contain minor changes to the Rules. 1.6 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 1.7 Every person on board who has his or her domicile in the Netherlands, shall have the appropriate license. 1.8 Every competitor who has his or her domicile in the Netherlands, shall be a paid up member of the Hobie Cat Klasse Associatie Nederland.

2. ADVERTISING 2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The Open Dutch Class Championship Hobie Cat is open for all Hobie Cat 16 & Hobie Dragoon. 3.2 The Hobie Cat Holland Challenge Cup is open for all Hobie Cats. 3.3 Eligible boats may enter by registration and payment of the required fee at the regatta office on Saturday 14th of September 2019 between 08.00 – 10.30 hrs.

4. FEES 4.1 The required fee for participating the event for each boat is: Hobie Cat 16, Hobie Wild Cat and other double-handed boats: € 55,=

Hobie Cat 14, Hobie Cat FX one and other Single handed boats: € 45,= Hobie Cat Dragoon € 30,=

5. SCHEDULE OF RACES AND EVENTS 5.1 Opening and skippers briefing at 11.00 hrs. Saturday 14th of September 2019 5.2 Scheduled races: - Saturday September 14th 2019: 3 races back to back, 1st warning signal 11.55 - Sunday September 15th 2019: 3 races back to back, 1st warning signal 10.55 5.3 Extra races per day may be sailed provided that no more than 5 races per day are sailed and no more than 8 races are sailed in total. 5.4 The scheduled time is the time of the warning signal of the 1st starting class of the first race of the day. 5.5 On the last day of the regatta no warning signal will be made after 16:00

6. MEASUREMENT 6.1 There will be no pre measurement, except weighing of the crew. 6.2 During the regatta any boat and its equipment may be subject to examination at any time.

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at the Regatta Office at the registration during the event.

8. VENUE The location of the racing areas is in front of the beach of sailing club Watersportvereniging Zandvoort at Boulevard Paulus Loot 1Z, Zandvoort. See appendix A.

9. THE COURSES 9.1 The courses will be Standard IHCA Courses.

10. PENALTY SYSTEM Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

11. SCORING 11.1 A boat’s scoring shall be calculated in accordance with RRS A2, except that: a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of here race scores b) When 5,6,7 or 8 races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 11.2 At least 4 races are required to be completed to constitute a regatta.

12. SUPPORT BOATS Support boats must register at the Regatta Office during registration on Saturday 14th of September 2019 between 08.00 and 10.30 and shall be marked with a Red-White striped ribbon supplied by the organisation.

13. RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in case of an emergency a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

14. PRIZES Helmsman and crew for the winning boat of the championships of Hobie 16 and Hobie Dragoon acquire the title “Dutch Class Champion” and receive the accompanying medal(s). A minimum of 10 competitors is required to constitute a class eligible for Dutch Championship. In case less than 10 boats compete, the event will be named “Hobie Cat Holland Challenge Cup 2019” for that class. The responsible person of the winning boat in a Dutch Class Championship acquires the Red Penant of the RNYU. Helmsman and crew of the boats that are placed second and third acquire also medal(s) of the RNYU. Prizes will be given to the skipper (and not a representative) of first, second and third ranked boats in the championship. Prizes will be given as follows: - With less than 5 boats in a class: 1 price - With 5 or more boats but less than 10 boats in a class: 2 prices - With 10 or more boats in a class: 3 prices

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

16. INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of Euro 1.500.000 per incident or the equivalent due to the sailing area.

17. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS By participating in the Dutch Class Championship, a competitor automatically grants the Organising Authority, the organizers and the sponsors of the event the use of name and likeness.

19. SOCIAL PROGRAM A social program will be available at the registration desk.

20. TRANSPORT, TRAILER PARKING, DOCKING AND CARS Transport for boats and trailers can be done by the organisation: - Friday 13th of September 2019: from 18.00 – 20.00 hrs. - Saturday 14th of September 2019: from 08.00 – 10.30 hrs. - Sunday 15th of September 2019: after the price giving ceremony. When the situation on the beach makes transport not possible because it is unsafe for beach guests or it is prohibited by local authorities, transport can only be done by consulting the organisation. Note: private transport without permit from local authorities is forbidden. Boats and trailers shall be kept in their assigned places on the beach Cars shall be parked in the designated parking areas. No cars are allowed on the beach. Please follow the instructions of the regatta volunteers at all times
