Ful-Power Ful-Power, a product of Faust BioAg, is a special microbial iso- late from humic acids. It was developed by Robert Faust on the Big Island of Hawaii more than a decade ago. It became so popular in Oregon for grapes and cannabis that he moved to Oregon to increase pro- duction. Ful- Power is now used many by top growers from coast to coast and is also exported to New Zealand and The Nether- lands. Ful-Power contains fulvic acid, which increases genetic potential of the plants, Faust said. Ful-Power has no effect on pH of the solution. The term fulvic acid defines the low molecular weight fraction of humic acids. This is the fraction with the -bi ological activity that can pass through the cell walls and stimu- late cellular processes such as ATP, cell division and photosyn- thesis, Faust said. Faust has beenworking with humic substances for more than 40 years and is a member of the International Humic Substanc- es Society and is an agricultural consultant and pest manage- ment advisor. “It is the living/organic link between living plant roots/cells and dead minerals,” Faust said. “Inorganic mineral salts are used in most hydroponic and conventional farming. The end result is quicker germination, faster growth, higher-quality pro- duction and yield, along with some disease resistance.” www.bioag.com

Gnatty Nets Looking for an all-natural method for pest control? Gnatty Nets could potentially offer a solution. Gnatty Nets bags fit over cylindrical plant containers with the goal of reducing the need for chemical pesticides. The breathable bags are designed to allow water in while being im- penetrable by soil-bourne bugs. Not only does this keep unwanted in- sects out, but also prevents infestations from spreading if a bug does infiltrate your soil. The nets are made of reusable, machine washable nylon and feature a cinch for growers to secure openings. The bags come in four sizes, ranging from small, one-gallon nets to extra-large nets that are capa- ble of fitting 15-gallon containers. www.gnattynets.com

ashington State faces a critical juncture in its process of legalizing marijua- na. The millions of dollars that have exchanged hands since July 2014 tell one story, but those that are operating businesses under the regulation of WInitiative 502 tell another story altogether. In the first six months of Washington’s retail market being open, more than $60 mil- lion worth of legal marijuana was sold throughout the supply chain, with more than $40 million of that at the retail level. Eighty-eight retail stores reported sales to the Washington State Liquor Control Board during that initial six-month stretch, with the average month of sales equaling more than $130,000. Although consumers largely griped about the high prices in compari- son to medical or the black market, a casual glance at the industry would have showed positive signs of growth. Question: I am hoping to start a marijuana busi- ness. What do I need to know about raising cap- ital for my business? Answer: Seeking investors for your business may involve state and federal securities laws. Before offering securities you should review state and federal laws and regulations and consult a pro- fessional who is knowledgeable about securities transactions. In almost all cases, prior to meeting certain securities law requirements, you may not advertise to find investors. This prohibition in- cludes print and electronic media, including your own website, Facebook, Twitter or Craigslist. Offering a security may involve legal and financial consequences that can result in civil liability and money damages to you if you don’t follow the law. The GreenBroz dry trimmer was a turn- ing point for the company, resulting in a $60,000 sale to a Northern California trim- ming machine distributor and giving the San Diego-based company the momentum needed to push forward. However, the hunt for investment cap- ital remained a fickle obstacle. Raichart and Turner connected with The ArcView Group, first with an online presentation, then with a live presentation in Boston. “We had a great reception, but it was pulling teeth from there,” Turner said. GreenBroz had some proven technol- ogy, intellectual property and a success story. But potential investors — primarily bringing non-cannabis money to the ta- ble — were looking for something more definitive. They were looking for a track record and some indicator of return on in- vestment. “Getting past that initial interest didn’t happen,” Turner said. “A lot of good things came out of it, but we still had no money.” It was back to the drawing board. The company formed an advisory panel, re- vamped its corporate structure, developed a larger dry trimmer than its standard unit, and began preparing for another ArcView presentation set for June 2013 in Denver.
