2 Evaluation of PrioritySubcatchment Issues

Of the 6 river water bodies in this subcatchment, all are Good ecological status (2013-2015). Three of the water bodies are considered to be NOT AT RISK: Newport (Tipperary)_010, Newport (Tipperary)_030 and Small (Tipperary)_010.

IFI noted that fish status in Newport (Tipperary)_040 may be impacted by the Newport abstraction and weir, with the ideal measure being removal of the weir and replacement with a rock ramp. This is not considered a significant pressure however, as the current fish potential is satisfactory and the ecological status of the water body has been consistently Good during WFD monitoring cycles. The Newport (Tipperary)_020 and Dooane_010 are AT RISK as they are not meeting the High Ecological Status Objective.
