Business Development Internship, Ottawa BlackJacks Canadian Elite Basketball League Responsibilities: (Including, but not limited to) • Research, prospect and establish leads for premium, season, group and single game tickets and group experiences • Learning stages of partnerships/sponsorships (partnership meetings, proposals, business pitches, contract development and fulfillment reports) • Research, prospect and establish leads for corporate partnership assets • Develop and monitor departmental goals for the Sales Team • Work closely with the Sales Team to ensure contractual ticket and partnership fulfillment with an emphasis towards maximizing cross promotional opportunities • Prepare weekly sales reports • Work special events to maximize new sales opportunities • Manage multiple accounts, developing positive working relationships with all customer/fan touch points • Drive fan retention, renewals, upsell and fan satisfaction • Liaise with the Sales Team to ensure the build of all team-related ticket and partnership offerings are met • Prepare campaign insights, including analysis and research, with a purpose to develop future leads • Manage fan/customer activity using CRM tools provided, for maximum efficiency and visibility, with carefully issued follow-up to close any open issues • Provide input on new processes and workflows as needed • Focus on ensuring the maintenance of superior customer/fan service levels • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Currently studying sport management, business, event management or in a related field • Experience in sales considered an asset • Valid Driver’s License • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications Required Skills: • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and objectives • Strong written and verbal communications skills • Knowledge of the sport of basketball is an asset • Strong customer service skills via phone, email and face-to-face Availability: Day, evening, and weekend work will be occasionally required Term: Winter 2020 Semester (January, 2020 – April, 2020) Application Process: Applicants may submit their application (cover letter and resume) to [email protected] with the subject line: “Business Development Intern, Ottawa BlackJacks) We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted. About the Canadian Elite Basketball League The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a domestic professional basketball league with teams located in Edmonton, Fraser Valley (Abbotsford, BC), Guelph, Hamilton, Niagara (St. Catharines), Saskatchewan, and now Ottawa (2020). Successfully launched in 2019, the CEBL provides fans with a premium, family-friendly, sport and entertainment option from May to August. Professional basketball players, coaches, officials and staff grow and develop the sport of basketball at the highest level on home soil. The CEBL operates in accordance with the player and referee standards set by Canada Basketball as the only First Division premier league in the country. The league proudly adheres to the International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) rules and regulations. CEBL players come from NBA G-League clubs, top NCAA programs, the Canadian national program, U SPORTS and other Division 1 FIBA leagues. The 2019 inaugural season saw more than 100 Canadian and international players take to the court, displaying exciting basketball, culminating with the Saskatchewan Rattlers earning the first CEBL championship title.
