The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a hard toll on many Board MEMBER PARTICIPATION of Trade member organizations. The Board of Trade is known for its robust calendar of meet- ings and events that allow members to learn, network, and support each other’s success. The 2020 Mid-Winter Dinner in late February was the last major in-person event before the COVID-19 pandemic required the Board of Trade to transition completely to virtual formats. As a result, the Board of Trade has hosted its members on Zoom nearly 100 times for both private meetings and large, public webinars. The nature of these meetings and events changed as well, becoming more content driven as members grappled with intense business challenges. As a result, mem- ber participation increased to 95 percent.

These lunchtime meetings are held over Zoom, include 10-20 executives, are held weekly (on average), and feature a home delivery of a meal from one of our member companies: Ridgewells Catering, Catering by Carin and Company, Clyde’s, and Sprinkles Potomac. We testified early in 2020 before the Maryland Board of Public Works and later in the year before the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Adminis- tration reenforcing our position on the ben- efits of the project and how it will help in the mobility of goods and services throughout the Washington region. • The Board of Trade has advocated for the Long Bridge Act of 2020 (H.R. 7489) and will continue to do so. This bill will authorize the transfer of National Park Service lands to the Commonwealth of Virginia, which is needed for the construction of the Long Bridge proj- ect, a much-needed project in our region.
