Breastfeeding is a vital part of sustainable development and a non-negotiable component of global action to end malnutrition. Increased rates of exclusive and continued breast- feeding can only be achieved by cooperating and collaborating across sectors and genera- tions. There is an agreed goal for all governments to priorities the World Health Assembly (WHA) global target for an increase in the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months up to at least 50% by the year 2025. The inauguration ceremony of WBW 2018 was held on 1st August and Honorable Health Minister of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh inaugurated the ceremony. His presence brought all possible support to make the event successful and make further advancement in Infant and young child feeding (IYCF) movement in Bangladesh. This year, an essay com- petition was organized for the first time to celebrate the week. A ‘Breastfeeding and Nutri- tion fair’ was also arranged during the inauguration.
