SUMMARY / POST VISIT REFLECTION My re-visiting to the Farragut Houses was great, the NYCHA representative Cyriaca Decaille, was pleasant and approachable, she share lots of information and that was very helpful, It is great to know that most of the surroundings of the Farragut houses neighborhood, which consist of the 10 developments, fences around the developments, playground, parking lots and parks are all property of NYCHA. They have tenant watch in four of their building; therefore, some of the development is cleaner than others. They have a residential association and volunteer tenant association, which organizes many of the free programs for their resident called health youth-community center they offer afterschool program, GED preparation, English as a second language and much more: Construction Section 3- Rees stands for office of Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability; they organize services with local partners to support residence to increase the tenant’s income. This free Job training program is to no cost to the resident but resident must be willing to work and want it- when there is construction in one of the Farragut houses they must employed some of the residents if not they will not get the contract to do the job. One other thing that I found very interesting was that anyone could apply for an apartment in the Farragut houses they must be found eligible and pass all requirements. There is no credit check it goes by income, family size. Also anyone applying must not have a criminal record or be a sex offender but one must keep in mind that there is a long waiting list to get into one of the Farragut’s developments. 5 REFERENCES TO EXPLORE HYPOTHESIS 1. http://www1.nyc.gov/site/nycha/about/developments/1950archives.page 2. http://www1.nyc.gov/site/nycha/about/developments.page 3. http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycha/html/developments/bklynfarragut.shtml 4. http://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nycha/downloads/pdf/Farragut.pdf 5. http://www1.nyc.gov/site/nycha/about/reports.page 6. http://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nycha/downloads/pdf/factsheet.pdf 7. http://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nycha/downloads/pdf/res_data.pdf 8. https://eapps.nycha.info/NychaMetrics 9. https://eapps.nycha.info/NychaMetrics/Home/Glossary 10. https://eapps.nycha.info/NychaMetrics/Charts/PublicHousingChartsTabs/?section=public_housin g&tab=tab_repairs 11. http://www.nyc.gov/html/ceo/downloads/pdf/nns_15.pdf 12. http://www.nyc.gov/html/ceo/downloads/pdf/CEO_AR_2013-14_Data_Full%20Report.pdf 13. http://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nycha/downloads/pdf/nycha-2012-annual-report.pdf 14. http://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nycha/downloads/pdf/hra-advisors-nycha-economic-impact- 20130912.pdf 15. https://eapps.nycha.info/NychaMetrics/Charts/PublicHousingChartsTabs/?section=public_housin g&tab=tab_repairs 16. http://opportunitynycha.org 17. http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycha/html/community/rees-info.shtml 18. 6 .
