riority Project 29 (Railway axis of the Ioanian/AdriaƟ c intermodal corridor) consists of two interlinked routes (Kozani- PKalambaka-Igoumenitsa and Ioannina-AnƟ rrio-Rio-Kalamata), which will lead to the increase of the capacity for intermodal links between sea and rail transport. These routes aim to connect the major ports in Greece with each other, and with the main rail routes to the rest of Europe.

The project is focused on the studies necessary for the alignment of the railway line AnƟ rrio-Ioannina, which consƟ tutes part of the second line of Priority Project 29.

The railway line AnƟ rrio-Ioannina will contribute to the improvement of the railway network’s interconnecƟ on with other modes of transport, through the promoƟ on of combined transport, especially in ports, airports and other transit freight centres (Thriassio Pedio, etc.), passengers’ transfer and freight transhipment centres.

MAP Review

The MidMid-Term Term evalua Ɵ on took note that the impleimplementaƟ on of the project has not yet started because of administraƟ ve and organisaƟ onal issues. The updated compleƟ on of the project by the end of 2015 is feasible, provided that the following condi- Ɵ ons are met:

• the contract for the preliminary studies for Phase A is awarded by the end of 2010 • the above studies are completed by the third quarter of 2011

The railway line Patras-Kalamata is one of the two secƟ ons of the second line of the Priority Project 29.

The project is focused on the studies necessary for the improvement and upgrading of the exisƟ ng railway line Patras-Kalamata (secƟ ons Patras-Pyrgos-Alfi os-Olympia and Alfi os-Kiparissia-Kalamata) and the change of its gauge from 1.0 m to 1.435 m.

MAP Review

The Mid-Term Mid Term evalua Ɵ on concluded that despite the t progress achieved thus far, the future implementaƟ on of the project will be signifi cantly delayed because of administraƟ ve and internal organisaƟ onal issues. The updated compleƟ on of the project by the end of 2015 is feasible, provided that the following condiƟ ons are met:
