The Film House is an international award winning, Qatari owned production company in the heart of . We are Producing flms, photography, animations and visual effects at a world-class level.

With a focus on the betterment of on the international stage and extensive experience making engaging, cinematic and impactful flms; The Film House is the perfect partner for any project.

We have a talented team of experienced and creative storytellers, documentarians, animators, photographers and flm directors with a wealth of local knowledge and love for Qatar.

We’re targeting diverse audiences on a variety of platforms. This includes social media outlets, televised advertising campaigns, cinema, flm festivals and even digital signage and public art installations. We’re not a traditional production company – we’re raising the bar.

Justin Kramer is an American flmmaker and artist. His career started in New York Chris Moon graduated with First Class Honors in Film and Video from the University City where he worked on numerous projects for HBO, MTV, CNN, VH1, and AMC for Creative Arts in the UK. He went on to achieve a Masters in Cinematography at among others. His producing, directing, and cinematography have been seen in

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER the prestigious National Film and Television School in 2008 under the mentorship numerous award-winning short flms, television shows, feature documentaries, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY and guidance of Brian Tufano BSC, Sean Bobbit BSC, Stuart Harris, Billy Williams music videos and commercials. Justin moved to Qatar to join the Doha Film BSC, and Roger Deakins BSC ASC. In 2010, Chris won several awards including an Institute where he produced and mentored numerous workshops and programs, Off Drum award at the Golden Drum Advertising Awards. He has shot commercials resulting in some of the frst flms and flmmakers from Qatar gaining international and promos, including award-winning virals and television commercials, for such recognition. Since founding The Film House in 2012, Justin has continued directing names as Nokia, Sony, ARRI Media, Toshiba, and Wrangler, and worked with some JUSTIN KRAMER U.S and producing commercials and flms in and outside of Qatar. Omar Khalifa is a storyteller, documentarian and fne art photographer. At Al Rishab Soni is a multidisciplinary creative from Auckland, New Zealand. He has Jazeera English, under the mentorship of Oscar and Emmy award-winning worked with editorial studios, advertising agencies and flm production houses DESIGNER & ANIMATOR

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION executives, Omar created and developed current affairs series and program from across the world. His illustration and design work has been exhibited in strands that were selected at awards ceremonies and recognized worldwide. His galleries in various countries and featured in editorials such as Semi-permanent, professional work includes productions for brands such as Vodafone, Levi’s, and 3x3Mag and Stroke Art Fair. From humble beginnings to co-producing a drama series for the BBC, Jennifer’s career has been Dimitri Yuri is a Brazilian screenwriter/director who has lived in Doha for the past six years. After colorful and swift. Just ten years ago, while studying at Holy Spirit University she was selected graduating summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University, Dimitri began to work to produce segments for Future TV, a leading Lebanese television channel. Gaining recognition on a variety of flms for reputable companies such as the St. Regis, Ooredoo, and Qatar Airways. PRODUCER for this work, she moved on to produce for HIYA TV and ART TV before moving to Qatar in 2013 as Dimitri has written dozens of short and feature flm scripts; his latest script, Blood at the Root, is a producer for Al Rayyan TV. ASHIQ KHAN PK JEMINA LEGASPI PHL Ashiq Khan is a Qatar-based camera and production assistant who began his career in 2010 Jemina Legaspi started a promising career in flm production well before earning her degree in with Doha Film Institute. Sebastian is a Finnish-Italian camera operator currently based in Qatar. With an educational background in the feld and an immense passion for it, he has worked with several companies in Qatar, throughout Europe, and in various independent flms. With extensive experience in the camera department and his profciency in fve languages, Seb has developed a broad and thoroughly international perspective to his creative work. CAMERA OPERATOR

The Film House is not only a place of great creative inspiration; it is also the most technologically advanced production house in Qatar.

The Film House’s in-house production kit covers motion picture, digital camera and photography equipment from major industry manufacturers, including ARRI Alexa Plus +, RED Epics, ARRI416, CANON C500 and The Hasselblad H50, accompanied by a selection of Zeiss Ultra Primes, Red or Canon lenses. We also offer the latest in flm, commercial and television lighting from ARRI, Kino Flo, Dedo plus state of the art audio feld recording gear which includes a 788T 8 channel Sound Devices recorder and Lectrosonics transmitters and receivers.

Our studio is the only one of it’s kind in Qatar, housing some of the most advanced post-production technology to date; edit suites complete with Avid Bin Locking system enabling fast and effcient workfow; graphics stations boasting industry-leading 3D and compositing software, such as Maya and Nuke; and a color-grading suite installed with DaVinci Resolve complete with console, 4K monitor, projector and Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound - this can double-up as private cinema for clients to view works in progress and host private screenings. All our machines feature robust specifcations - 128GB of RAM, Nvidia K6000 graphics cards, all connected via Teradici PCoIP hardware, allowing seamless remote viewing. Converting to or from any video format with transparent quality has never been easier with our Teranex Processor, and we also output Digital Cinema Packages via easyDCP. Our sound suite houses a ProTools machine and an Avid S6 mixing desk, complete with a sound booth to accommodate all of your audio post-production needs. And, integral to all workfow, we have a TigerTech server with LTO Tape formatting to make sure that your data is safe and accessible.

23 5G hit the shores of Qatar and Ooredoo Supernet are driving it into the country’s bedrock.

The frst network in the region to announce 5G, we worked with UPP in Prague to bring to life the staypuft emoji, hashtag bling gorilla, electric foating jellyfsh and 5G drone ensemble.

25 We had the pleasure of making an important flm for Interpol.

A dramatic short in the world of CBRNE - chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives crime. Shot between Qatar and Morocco, this is the promo for the longer 14min flm, which will train paramedics in the region to be aware of chemicals that can lead to the creation of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).

A series, Aqila, borne from the flm we made for Interpol, is currently in script development.

27 IBQ is a distinctly Qatari brand. A brand that is proud of it’s heritage and history in Qatar. A history that spans over 60 years of experience.

Starting as Ottoman Bank in 1956, the bank has grown and evolved over the years into the premier banking centre it is today. Not only a bank, but a family. And just like family, they’ve been “with you all along”. This flm is a reminder of the past, a celebration of the present and a look into a promising future.

29 The Film House recently produced AJ Al Thani’s short flm Kashta, which received the Best Narrative Short Film award in the Made in Qatar section at the 2016 Ajyal Youth Film Festival.

Kashta was selected for the offcial short flm competition at the 2016 Dubai International Film Festival. Qatari flmmaker AJ Al Thani’s flm strikes just the right balance of calm and calamity, adolescence and adulthood, knowhow and panic to tell a seemingly simple story with a sense of gravity that will echo with anyone who has seen an innocent plan go horribly wrong.

31 The Film House travelled to 24 cities around the world for this Qatar Airways spot.

From Hong Kong to New York, Finland to Australia, we captured the essence of premium wanderlust as we had the fortune to visit some spectacular sights. A three-man team with a cute set up led by the Sony A7sII and Freefy system, we roamed, flmed, and edited on the fy. The content made a global TVC and 12 Weather Idents on international TV stations like CNN, BBC, OSN and CNBC to sponsor the weather broadcasts.

33 Part one of a series, “Inner Passport” gave us a chance to go 70s Kung Fu, Wu Tang vs Shaolin -inspired for Ooredoo Qatar.

Featuring Tarek Al-Ward as the Sensei, we were somehow allowed to turn a sane brief into something galactically wired. Thank you client and agency for your support and confdence! Freedom to roam with automatic Passport.

35 We were fortunate enough to work with Njoud Al-Kubaisi and QFC on this Ramadan TVC aimed at raising awareness about the challenges faced by the hearing-impaired.

With over 1m+ views in its frst week, the ad went viral. We used the phantom camera to create super slow motion visuals that took us into a heightened visual reality that Njoud relays to her hearing-impaired father.

37 A journey into the past to explore the importance of conservation.

To celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan and stress the importance of precious resource conservation, we were commissioned to create two flms that take us back to the early days of Qatar. Tarsheed, under the patronage of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has a mission to ensure Qatar’s resources are protected for the beneft of future generations. In this epic journey, we are transported to the early 1900’s where two camel riders search the endless desert for a source of water, careful of every drop of their reserves.

39 To celebrate Qatar National Day, Vodafone tapped The Film House to write and direct a TVC that refected the theme “Nostalgia for the future”.

Refecting Qatar’s sentimentality for the past while always looking to the future; this TVC features subtle (and not so subtle) moments that touch the Qatari community.

The flm had a very successful social media presence and continues to be a favorite amongst locals.

41 Don’t leave without your Passport!

In the lead up to Eid, we made a spot for Ooredoo Qatar, reminding customers to activate their Passport pack for their holidays. Flat 2D animated characters on live action footage, and inspired music from a classic Arabic song Ya Msafer; a song about longing for someone who is leaving.

43 McMafa is a BBC eight-part drama series created by Hossein Amini and James Watkins and directed by James Watkins.

It was inspired by the non- fction book, McMafa: A Journey Through the Global Crime Underworld (2008) by journalist Misha Glenny. It stars James Norton as Alex Godman, the English-raised son of Russian mafa exiles, who has spent his life trying to escape the shadow of their past, building his own legitimate business and forging a life with his girlfriend Rebecca. But when a murder forces his family’s past to return to threaten them, Alex is drawn into the criminal underworld and must confront his values to protect those he loves. It is co-produced by the BBC, AMC and Cuba Pictures. Broadcast on BBC One started on 1 January 2018. Episode 1 and 2 were co-produced by The Film House.

45 Partnering with Reach Out To Asia, The Film House produced short documentary flms in , , West Bank, Gaza and Tunisia.

These short flms highlight ROTA’s continued efforts to provide quality education to those in need across Asia and the Middle East. A highlight flm produced by The Film House premiered at the 2016 Reach Out To Asia Gala Dinner event at which contributions and donations were made totaling over 15 million US Dollars toward the projects ROTA is funding around the world.

47 Teaming up with Qatari writer/director Hend Fakhroo, The Film House produces The Waiting Room.

A short flm that was in the offcial competition at the 2016 Ajyal Youth Film Festival as well as the offcial short flm competition at the 2016 Dubai International Film Festival. We are all aware of the various differences among cultures – language and tradition being the most obvious – but there is perhaps nothing more universal than the emotional roller coaster that accompanies caring for a loved one in distress. Qatari flmmaker Hend Fakhroo explores this commonality in the moving story of two young women, each looking after a parent in intensive care, who forge a connection while they wait for developments in the suspended time so particular to the hospital environment.

49 A spec spot created for Red Bull and their annual Car Park Drift event.

Red Bull’s annual event, which is held within the region returned to Qatar for the third time. The event includes some of the best drift car drivers from around the region, showing off their skills and competing to take the championship. Red Bull Car Park Drift evolved to establish itself as the core developer of drifting in the Middle East and North Africa with 19 qualifers and 11 participating countries.

We took the initiative to create a small spec spot based off this event. Showing our support for the sport and drift culture.

51 Voices is a short documentary flm made for the 2015 Defnitely Able Conference and Art Exhibition.

Sasol and The British Council Qatar joined forces with key Qatari partners in the feld of inclusion and diversity to hold a ground-breaking event in 2015: the ‘Defnitely Able Conference and Ilham Art Exhibition’ which was held at the Museum of Islamic Art. This event builds on Sasol’s on-going ‘Defnitely Able’ initiative and the Arts and Disability Festival during Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture. The flm features seven local and regional disabled people who talk about the trails and tribulations they experience in their day to day lives as well as the successes that they have achieved despite their diffculties.

53 A symbol of Qatar’s vision and signifcance in the region, Hamad International Airport is a truly phenomenal architectural landmark.

The Film House was asked to make an elegant and instructional ‘landing flm’ for the arrival of airplanes to one of the most breathtaking and state-of-the-art airports in the world. Our aim was to portray the airport as one of the most beautiful spaces for passengers to travel through, while serving as a subtle and yet stunning instructional guide.

55 The estimated one billion people living with disabilities worldwide face many barriers to inclusion in many key aspects of society.

As a result, people with disabilities do not enjoy access to society on an equal basis with others, which includes areas of transportation, employment, and education as well as social and political participation.

This call to action animation was crafted for the ‘International Day for Persons with Disabilities’, with Shafallah a non-proft center dedicated to children with special needs.

57 There are no barriers to a good friendship.

Being a buddy is about sharing, inspiring and encouraging another person. As good friends are hard to fnd, Best Buddies pairs-up friends-to-be, and in doing so breaks down barriers to communication for people with disabilities. Our flm, supported by Qatar Financial Centre, aimed to give Best Buddies Qatar a powerfully communicative and energising piece of content that we hope will resonate throughout Qatar and the Best Buddies International organisation. The concept behind the flm began with a very simple thought… There are no barriers to a good friendship. And so, to emphasise this, we created a visual barrier using the motif of a split screen, through which our buddies communicate, engage, chat and have fun, despite the very present divide in the screen.As they break through this barrier, they prove that great friendships conquer all.

59 Al Jazeera came to The Film House to create a cinematic documentary teaser to promote and celebrate a special tenth year for the documentary festival.

With a quick turnaround shoot, we’re grateful to Al Jazeera for letting us express ourselves with an epic cinematic documentary look and feel. 63 In an effort to raise awareness to the citizens of Qatar on the daily functions and importance of the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics, a memorable, clear and poignant flm was nurtured.

Being a major contributor toward the Qatar 2030 Vision, The Ministry is looking to draw more attention to the quintessential work they do. The Ministry is a cornerstone for, not only the rapidly building city but also for the citizens, who in most cases are totally unaware of the services that are open for them.

65 With “Steps” as the theme for the 10th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, The Film House created a series of awards stings that would resonate within the theme.

During the Award Ceremony of the 10th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, these flms illustrated the category for each particular award - Best Director, Best Cinematography, Jury Award etc. Inspired by the photography of Pol Ubeda Hervas, we used the metaphor of empty shoes as a testament to those flmmakers who are flling them and creating phenomenal documentaries around the world.
