The targeted houses are owned by: Khalil Abd Al-Rahman Ash-Sheikh, Yousif Abd Al-Karem Ash-Sheikh, Mohammad Ibrahim Ash-Sheikh and Sameh Thawabtih. (Wattan 1 May 2014) The Israeli Civil Administration submitted a building scheme in Al Quds Daily Newspaper for Public Review1. The Regional Plan No. 09/ 53/1601, basin number 28051, in Ash-Sharfa area in Beit Jala town in Bethlehem governorate. The plan determines the use of the land to marketing area. (Al-Quds 1 January 2013) Israeli settlers uprooted 50 olive seedlings in Khallit An-Nahla area near Wadi Rahal village, south of Bethlehem city. The targeted seedlings were identified as: Issa Ali Ziyad. (Wattan 1 May 2014) Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) handed out military orders to demolish two barracks and a stable in Um Rukba area, south of Al-Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. The targeted barracks and stable are owned by Osama Salah, Imad Al-Sarfandi and Mahmoud Yacoub Da’do’. (RB2000 6 May 2014) Israeli settlers escorted by the Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) stormed an agricultural land in Al-Fawar area in Nahhalin village, west of Bethlehem city. The Israeli settlers performed Talmudic rituals. During the operation, the IOA prevented Palestinian farmers from working in their land in the aforementioned area. (RB2000 6 May 2014) Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) handed out a military order to demolish a water well in Al-Abbasiya area, south of Al-Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. The targeted well is owned by Hassan Mohammad Hussen Salah. Accordingly, the ratio of Palestinians who support military operations decreased from 53.3% in January 2009 to 37.1% in April 2011. With regards to the rockets fired from Gaza Strip towards Israel, the ratio of Palestinians who believe they are useful in achieving the national goals went down from 50.8% in January 2009 to 25.4% this month while the ratio of Palestinians who believe that these rockets harm the national interests went up from 20.8% in January 2009 to 38.6% this month. In a similar trend, the ratio of Palestinians who support bombing operations against Israeli civilian targets decreased from 55.4% in January 2009 to 37.3% this April.

    Neoliberal Settlement as Violent State Project: West Bank Settlement Homes and Real Estate Occupation Yael Allweil Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, Technion and Israel Institute for Advanced Studies [email protected] Abstract Intense ideological debates over the legal status of West Bank settlements and political campaigns objecting to or demanding their removal largely neglect the underlying capitalist processes that construct these settlements. Building upon the rich scholarship on the interrelations of militarism and capitalism, this study explores the relationship between capitalist and militarist occupation through housing development. Pointing to neoliberalism as central to the ways in which militarism and capitalism have played out in Israeli settlement dynamics since 1967, this paper unpacks the mutual dependency of the Israeli settlement project on real estate capitalism and neoliberal governance. Through historical study of the planning, financing, construction, and architecture of settlement dwellings as real estate, as well as interviews and analysis of settler-produced historiographies, this paper identifies the Occupied Territories (OT) as Israel’s testing ground for neoliberal governance and political economy. It presents a complementary historiography for the settlement project, identifying three distinct periods of settlement as the product of housing real estate: neoliberal experimentation (1967-1994), housing militarization (1994-2005), and “real-estate-ization” (2005-present).   • Ground to a Halt, Denial of Palestinians' Freedom Of
    Since the beginning of the second intifada, in September 2000, Israel has imposed restrictions on the movement of Palestinians in the West Bank that are unprecedented in scope and duration. As a result, Palestinian freedom of movement, which was limited in any event, has turned from a fundamental human right to a privilege that Israel grants or withholds as it deems fit. The restrictions have made traveling from one section to another an exceptional occurrence, subject to various conditions and a showing of justification for the journey. Almost every trip in the West Bank entails a great loss of time, much uncertainty, friction with soldiers, and often substantial additional expense. The restrictions on movement that Israel has imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank have split the West Bank into six major geographical units: North, Central, South, the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea, the enclaves resulting from the Separation Barrier, and East Jerusalem. In addition to the restrictions on movement from area to area, Israel also severely restricts movement within each area by splitting them up into subsections, and by controlling and limiting movement between them. This geographic division of the West Bank greatly affects every aspect of Palestinian life.     Weekly Report On Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (29 Oct. – 04 Nov. 2015) Thursday, 05 November 2015 00:00 Israeli forces continue systematic crimes in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) (29 October – 04 November 2015) Israeli forces have escalated the use of excessive force against peaceful protests in the oPt. 8 Palestinian civilians, including 2 children, were killed in the West Bank; one of whom was killed in occupied Jerusalem. 129 Palestinian civilians, including 25 children, were wounded in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Among the wounded were 3 journalists and 9 paramedics. A paramedic sustained shrapnel wounds and the others suffered tear gas inhalation. Israeli forces conducted 91 incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank, including 14 ones in Jerusalem. 119 Palestinian civilians, including 35 children and a woman, were arrested. 48 of them, including 14 children, were arrested in occupied Jerusalem. The offices of Menber al-Hurriya Radio and Adwar "Roles" for Social Change Association in Hebron were raided and their contents were confiscated. Israeli forces have continued their efforts to create Jewish majority in occupied East Jerusalem. A house in al-Mukaber Mountain and 3 apartments in a residential building in Beit Hanina neighbourhood were demolished. 10 families were notified to vacate their houses, southeast of Nablus, to be demolished as they are close to "Ahya" settlement. Israeli forces raided houses belonging to families of Palestinians who carried out run-over and stabbing attacks, and threatened to demolish them on grounds of collective punishment. Israeli settlers have escalated their attacks against Palestinian civilians and property and settlement activities have continued in the West Bank.
