He rose to fame for playing the Man with No Name in Sergio Leone’s Dollars trilogy of spaghetti westerns (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) during the 1960s, and as San Francisco Police Department Inspector Harry Callahan in the Dirty Harry films (Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact and The Dead Pool) during the 1970s and 1980s. These roles, along with several others in which he plays tough-talking no-nonsense police officers, have made him an enduring cultural icon of masculinity. Eastwood won Academy Awards for Best Director and Producer of the Best Picture, as well as receiving nominations for Best Actor, for his work in the films Unforgiven (1992) and Million Dollar Baby (2004). These films in particular, as well as others including Play Misty for Me (1971), The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), Pale Rider (1985), In the Line of Fire (1993), The Bridges of Madison County (1995) and Gran Torino (2008), have all received commercial success and critical acclaim.

Lidt overraskende har en ”kändis” bedt om billetter til den sidste koncert – nemlig Neil Young. Bandets rytmeguitarist Bruce Welch siger: ”En har på vegne af Neil Young bedt om billetter til det sidste show på London’s Hammersmith Odeon – 12. juni 2004. Åbenbart var Hank hans idol i de tidlige år – det undrer mig ikke – Hank var den første guitar stjerne”. En happy ending lå ellers ikke i kortene. Bruce Welch – som på et tidspunkt var forlovet med Olivia Newton- John – siger, at der var store problemer før de kunne komme til enighed. Så kom den længe ventede nyhed – THE SHADOWS er tilbage igen – i den ”gamle” opstilling med Hank, Bruce og Brian. Hvem der bliver bassisten og manden på keyboards vides ikke på nuværende tidspunkt. Men mon ikke det bliver Mark Griffiths og Cliff Hall – det var jo dem der var med på den sidste tour i 1990. ”Jeg havde ikke talt med Hank siden den sidste tour i Det vides heller ikke på nuværende tidspunkt, om det 1990. Vi gik hver til sit og fik ikke diskuteret bliver en ren engelsk tour eller om der bliver plads – problemerne dengang” – siger Bruce Welch. ”Hank læs økonomi – til et par afstikkere til Danmark og den ringede til mig for 3 måneder siden, og vi blev enige øvrige del af Europa. Der er ingen tvivl om at det er et om at lægge uoverensstemmelserne bag os – så vi kan dyrere arrangement at håndtere end Hank alene – nu tage ud på den sidste tour og tage afsked med vore men vi krydser fingre/tæer og håber det bedste.

Selv om de kalder den for Europa Tour må man konstatere, at Danmark fylder utroligt meget på Shadows Europakort, hvor foreløbig 9 ud af de 24 koncerter er her i landet, og når der kun er en koncert i henholdsvis Belgien, Tyskland og Frankrig - Holland har lige fået en ekstra den 12. maj - må man sige, at der er et stort publikum i Danmark.     APOLOGY It seems that I have to start each issue with an apology for my tardiness. The word "Sorry" is 'in' at present so I don't have to repeat it!! The main reason for the delay has been the continuing (and sometimes frustrating) negotiations over a new venue for "Shadoz". The location we had enjoyed for the past two years had increased their costs way beyond our reach, so a new venue was sought, I'm pleased to say we have confirmed a new venue, which suits our needs (and budget) – more details follow. G.J. 2008 marks the 50th Anniversary of Cliff & The Shadows – so let's join the celebrations! We are proud to present our 6th "Shadoz" in which we began with a tribute to The Shadows, but now include many varieties of instrumental music – The Ventures, Duane Eddy, Johnny & The Hurricanes, The Atlantics, Chet Atkins, The Fireballs, Booker T & The MG's, The Astronauts, The Surfaris, The Spotnicks and many more. This paper argues that all addictions consist of a number of distinct common components (salience, mood modification, tolerance, withdrawal, conflict and relapse). The paper argues that addictions are a part of a biopsychosocial process and evidence is growing that excessive behaviours of all types do seem to have many commonalities. It is argued that an eclectic approach to the studying of addictive behaviour appears to be the most pragmatic way forward in the field. Such commonalities may have implications not only for treatment of such behaviours but also for how the general public perceive such behaviours. Introduction Certain individuals use certain substances in certain ways, thought at certain times to be unacceptable by certain other individuals for reasons both certain and uncertain. (Burglass, & Shaffer, 1984, p. 19) Conceptualizing addiction has been a matter of great debate for decades. Although the opening quote is not recent, it still holds true despite the enormous amount of research into addictive behaviours. Any conceptualization of addiction has implications for several groups of people (e.g. addicts, their families, researchers, practitioners, policy makers, etc.). Obviously, the needs of these groups may not be equally well served by certain models, and in some cases there will be absolute incompatibility.

Therefore it is perhaps unsurprising that most official definitions concentrate on drug ingestion.
