Vine St., Los Angeles, CA 90038 AVA’S HEART is a unique nonprofit charity dedicated to providing financial assistance for organ transplant patients who cannot afford necessary treatment and care. Founded by heart transplant recipient Ava Kaufman, Ava’s Heart has quickly become the primary organization in the US for transplant patients and their families. We provide pre- transplant and post-transplant patients a wide variety of basic essentials not covered by insurance like housing, food, gas, medications, strollers, car seats, dental work, hearing aids, etc. We will even upgrade the electricity in a home that is not up to code so their mechanical device (LVAD or artificial heart) will work reliably. Without outside financial assistance, many families go broke, or even worse, some patients do not survive. Ava’s Heart also provides emotional and psychological support, as well as other resources and refuge for both transplant patients on the waiting list, as well as those who now have to deal with the realities of post-transplant care. AVA’S HEART HEROES BALL is our third fundraising gala, and your best opportunity of the year to focus your charitable contributions for this cause. We invite you to attend this truly magical evening that is guaranteed to touch your heart. You’ll hear stories from transplant patients, doctors, celebrities and our evening’s honorees who work passionately to better the lives of others. Whether or not you’re able to attend, your contributions as a sponsors or advertiser will be recognized by all in attendance, and greatly appreciated by the individuals and families facing life-changing organ transplant costs, whom you are going to aid directly. Phillip Palmer Phillip Palmer moved to Los Angeles in November of 1998 after his career took him from Monroe, Louisiana to Wichita, Kansas and then Denver, Colorado. His job as a reporter has taken him from a Super Bowl, to Iraq.. from Columbine to the Tsunami in Thailand. As the Morning News Anchor for ABC7 in Los Angeles since 2002, Phillip has had the opportunity to be involved in a number of charitable endeavors. He has been active in the Autism community, the ARC Walk for Independence, fundraising efforts for wounded veterans and organ donation… and that connection is deeply personal. In 2007, Phillip’s friend Dale Davis became ill. At first no one knew what was happening, only that Dale had been rushed to the emergency room with very high blood pressure. Initial fears of a stroke were replaced with the knowledge that Dale would need a kidney transplant. By coincidence or Devine intervention, Phillip had already been introduced to living donation by sports writer Rick Reilly, who had written a column about NBA star Alonzo Mourning and the kidney he received from his cousin. After being moved by the article, Phillip had made a promise to act if the need ever arose. Within weeks of Dale’s diagnosis, Phillip and Dale had transplant surgery and both are healthy and happy over 10 years later. Dale has seen his daughters graduate college and one get married. Phillip got married himself and had a little girl. • The Lack of Recognition for the Film Choreographer in Hollywood
Pace University DigitalCommons@Pace Honors College Theses Pforzheimer Honors College 6-2020 The Lack of Recognition for the Film Choreographer in Hollywood Claire Ross Follow this and additional works at: https://digitalcommons.pace.edu/honorscollege_theses Part of the Dance Commons, and the Film and Media Studies Commons The Lack of Recognition for the Film Choreographer in Hollywood Claire Ross Commercial Dance Major Art & Entertainment Management Minor Virginia Cox, MS Dyson College of Arts and Sciences Presentation Date: June 2020 Graduation Date: May 2020 1 Abstract The following research directly addresses why the film choreographer has lacked adequate recognition within the Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Additionally, this study aims to fill the research gap in relation to the minimal documentation that exists regarding the role and contributions of the film choreographer within the film industry. In order to move forward in assessing how the film choreographer can be recognized within the Oscars, one must address why they have not been sufficiently recognized within the history of the Academy Awards. By assessing the film choreographer’s value within the film industry through semi-structured interviews and data analysis methodologies, it was concluded their lack of recognition within the Oscars is due to the lack of dance’s presence in film, the undefined role of a film choreographer, and the general lack of awareness revolving around their contributions to film. All of which directly contribute to the film choreographer’s disproportionately perceived value within the film industry. Overall, this research intends to increase the dialogue revolving around the film choreographer as well as validate their value within the film industry.

He has a documentary that is titled "The Man Behind the Throne", and I think that's a really accurate way of describing him. He's a guy that often isn't in the limelight around Michael's career, but is somebody that had a crucial, crucial role in the in the visual aspects of a lot of Michael's art. Q: And a huge footprint in pop culture, I believe, so-- Jamon: Absolutely. Q: Yeah, well, I guess we should just get to the show. Jamon: Let's do it! [Intro] Q: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the MJCast! I'm Q, and I'm here today with my co-host and Jamon Bull. Now, when people talk about Michael Jackson's career, names often mentioned: studio geniuses Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, and Bruce Swedien. For me, a name that should certainly be mentioned right alongside, and of just as much importance is choreographer and director Vincent Paterson. Jamon: Yeah, Vincent Paterson began his career with Michael working as an assistant choreographer and lead dancer on the "Beat It" and "Thriller" short films, before continuing on to ideate and choreograph the timeless masterpiece of film "Smooth Criminal".

  • An Abstract of the Thesis Of
1 INTRODUCTION The end of the Cold War radically realigned global politics and led to a renewed interest in transnational civil society. The new civil society that helped bring down the Soviet Empire has been considered a major enabling element for worldwide democratization. Simultaneously, social movements addressing issues such as the environment and human rights globalized and increased their prominence within civil society. Leading such movements were inter-governmental organizations (IGOs), like the United Nations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), like Amnesty International and Greenpeace. Collectively known as international organizations (IOs), the reorganized worldwide society created an atmosphere where such IOs could proliferate and flourish, and become a significant factor in the post-Cold War world. While IGOs are quite powerful, NGOs have achieved a dramatic impact working as non-state players in international society. Current scholars of international relations have begun to consider the implications of traditionally non-political actors advocating political and social causes. However, much of that work has focused on NGOs and their interactions with each other, the governments of nation-states and IGOs. Keck and Sikkink (1998) evaluate the prominence of NGOs and the transnational networks that such organizations form to frame issue debates and establish them on agendas of international concern. However, another important piece of the puzzle for NGOs to successfully promote a political or social agenda is the role played by individual non- state actors, and not just non-state organizations. Non-state actors often have a unique ability to impact an audience that may not be affected by NGOs, especially when these 2 non-state individuals are celebrities.

I love you more with every breath, truly madly deeply do. I will be strong I will be faithful 'Cause I'm counting on a new beginning, A reason for living, a deeper meaning, yeah. I want to stand with you on a moun-tain. I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this for-ever, Until the sky falls down on me. And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky, I'll make a wish send it to heaven, then make you want to cry. The tears of joy for all the pleasure and the certainty, That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of The highest power, in lonely hours. The tears devour you.
