SERVICE, ACTIVISM, ORGANIZING
2018–2020 Elected representative to the University of Chicago Labor Council from SEIU Local 73 Faculty Forward (contingent faculty union) • Worked with GSU (Graduate Students United), AAUP (American Association of University Professors), AFT (American Federation of Teachers), Teamsters Local 743 (clerical and service maintenance employees), NNU (National Nurses United), IUOE (International Union of Operating Engineers), SLEU (Student Library Employee Union), and CTU (Chicago Teachers Union) as well as community groups to build a campus-wide labor council aimed at democratizing the university and the South Side of Chicago • Helped organize and provided support for CTU, NNU, and GSU actions as well as May Day marches and wage-theft campaigns on Chicago’s South Side • Provided support for Nabisco workers’ campaign against layoffs and benefits cuts
2015–2018 Music Department Organizer, GSU, University of Chicago • Worked closely with several dozen other grad organizers as well as professional organizers from AFT developing and implementing a successful strategy for grad union card campaign and election • Had dozens of one-on-one organizing conversations with grad workers in all divisions • Built a coalition of more than 1,500 grad workers at University of Chicago
