I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all players, officials and supporters of Tow Law and I hope they enjoy their evening with us. The Lawyers have had a very difficult start to the season, struggling near the foot of the table but with players now recovering from injury, they will have be en greatly encouraged by their surprise victory over high flying Sunderland RCA on Saturday. Remarkably, that success was their first win on home soil this season and they will doubtless be aiming to upset the odds again tonight, so there can be no room for complacency on our part. Saturday’s hard fought win over Norton & Stockton keeps us in 4th place and victory tonight would see us move up to third in what is proving to be a very competitive First Division this season. As most fans will know, we have been given home draws against new opposition in both the FA Vase and the Northumberland Senior Cup. Our defence of the Vase begins at home to Tadcaster Albion, who are among the front runners in the Northern Counties East League, while in the Senior Cup, our opponents are Northern League Second Divisi on leaders Team Northumbria. On Saturday we make our first ever visit to newly promoted Newton Aycliffe, who upset the odds with victory at West Auckland on Friday night. We then travel to South Shields on Tuesday in a game rearranged after the floodlight failure at Filtrona Park last month. Our next home game is against Billingham Synthonia on Saturday 12th November. The referee had no WHITLEY BAY 1 doubt in his mind but the Norton players disputed the NORTON & decision and even some Whitley fans not far from the incident felt it was questionable whether the foul took STOCKTON ANCIENTS 0 place within the penalty area. Probably more for his Saturday 29th October protests than the foul, Scott was cautioned, an outcome that proved costly for him later in the game. Paul Chow took the spot kick and his powerful shot gave McDonald no chance and put Whitley in front. Chow was in the action soon after but this time McDonald pushed his shot away from danger. At the other end, Brow n wasted a good opportunity when played through, his shot failing to trouble Hayes as it flew high over the bar. The game was repeatedly being held up by the referee’s whistle and this was both disrupting the flow of the game and leaving players of both sides frustrated as Paul Chow scores the only goal of the game from the penalty spot they were the victims of somewhat baffling decisions, which may have contributed to a large number of This was not a game that will live long in the memory of cautions.
