Issue 27 January 2011 Chorley Ramblers Out and About Report on Chorley Ramblers Annual Coach Rambles General Meeting 9 November The officers and committee members were re-elected (see page 3) Syd Jones was thanked for his many years of service to Chorley Ramblers as he retires from his role of Executive Officer. We reported the following on our activity 2009-2010 • Our membership has grown steadily from 288 in October 2007 to 315 in October 2010 • 27 leaders including 4 guest leaders from other Ramblers groups have led 132 walks; that’s 7 more than last year. 9 of the walks were strenuous, 50 moderate, 64 leisurely plus 8 Scramblers walks for children. Of the walks for adults, 20 walks were under 5 miles long, 61were between 5 and 8 miles, 39 between 8 and 12 miles and 4 were over 12 miles On top of Ingleborough on the December 40 Arc long. Joe Timperon entitled “Our Joe” was read by Pat Hough and Jack Pilkington read his poem entitle d “Remembrance”. They were based on the tragedy of the Australian Airman who died in the crash. The Australian National anthem was played and we all sang our National Anthem sung. Following the Remembrance dedicatio n, wreaths were laid by Chorley Ramblers, Bolton Mountain rescue and other s attending the service. Thanks are due to the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team for tidying up the site, and issuing laminated copies of the hymn sheets.
