He saw the 2 arrestee's walking down the sidewalk drinking beer accompanied by other males. Ofc. Gilstrap confronted the 2 arrestee's, showed them his City of Atlanta Police badge & asked for their ID's. They became angry & Ofc. Gilstrap called for backup. As he returned to his personal vehicle the 2 arrestee's followed him & 1 paced back & forth in front of his car. Ofc. Gilstrap attempted to detain that arrestee as the arrestee resisted; he took the arrestee to the ground to gain control. As he was doing so, he was hit in the head with an unknown object (by unknown persons) & punched in the head by the other arrestee, who also continued to jab the crutch at him in a threatening manner. Ofc. Gilstrap punched him back & was then hit in the head with a crutch. He was now surrounded by a group. He pulled his secondary weapon & ordered the group to get back. Backup then arrived. The suspect then got up, started chasing after the vehicle as he removed a gun from a bag & shot at them 4 or 5 times. Mr. ALLEN stated that Ms. RYCE followed him eventually firing two shots at him. Ms. RYCE stated that an altercation ensued between her, & Mr. ALLEN, & he put a knife to her throat. Ms. RYCE stated that she went to her car, & it was at this time Mr. ALLEN grabbed the gun from inside her vehicle. She later admitted that she fired the gun 1 time when she was advised that she would be tested for gun powder residue. The officer checked with the leasing office & found that victim’s ID had been used to check out the key to that apartment at 0830 that morning, but had been returned soon after.
