1898 FIXING COUNTRY BRIDGES PROGRAM MR to move— That this House: (1) Commends the NSW Nationals in the Government for investing $500 million in the Fixing Country Bridges Program.

(2) Notes in the first round, Myall Lakes will see seven bridges replaced thanks to a $22.5 million investment.

(3) Notes in the first round, this program will replace more than 400 ageing bridges with safer and modern bridges that will better withstand natural disasters, and ease the burden of maintenance for local government councils and rate payers.

1913 NEWCASTLE LIGHT RAIL EXPANSION MR to move— That this House: (1) Notes Transport for NSW recently assessed the options for an expanded light rail network in Newcastle, with all options travelling west from Newcastle Interchange paraellel to the heavy rail line on Tudor Street. (2) Notes this area of Newcastle is experiencing significant redevelopment and if the future corridors are built out, this could greatly increase the cost of expanding the light rail network. (3) Urges the Minister for Transport and Roads to prioritise the preservation of light rail corridors in Newcastle before these opportunities are lost.

2081 CHILD PROTECTION AUTHORITY POWERS MS ANNA WATSON to move— That this House: (1) Notes child protection authorities in New South Wales make determinations of risk of significant harm, and that these determinations can be overturned or ignored by the Federal Court which makes custody rulings for children.

(2) Notes the Child Protection Authority has the power to investigate the home situation, call schools and make full investigations of a child's situation, and the Family Court does not have such powers.

(3) Calls on the Government to negotiate with its federal counterpart to change the way these courts operate and to vest the power with the state courts to make custody orders in line with the Australian Law Reform Commission's report on family law to close the jurisdictional gap.
