NBA - NBA Fan Zone, Apresentada Por Cisco, Leva O Basquete Ao Rock in Rio NBA - NBA Fan Zone, apresentada por Cisco, leva o basquete ao Rock in Rio Ação inédita vai oferecer experiência que combina esporte, tecnologia e realidade virtual, além da exposição do Troféu Larry O’Brien na Game XP Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Música para os ouvidos dos fãs da bola laranja. A NBA (National Basketball Association) anunciou nesta quinta-feira, dia 7, a NBA Fan Zone, apresentada por Cisco, ação que marcará a presença da liga no Rock in Rio, maior festival de música e entretenimento do mundo, que acontece no dias 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 e 24 de setembro, no Parque Olímpico, no Rio de Janeiro. A NBA Fan Zone estará dentro da Game XP, uma nova área que vai ocupar duas das arenas olímpicas e estará integrada à Cidade do Rock. Uma experiência inédita. Na NBA Fan Zone, localizada dentro da Arena de Experiências da Game XP, o público vai encontrar diversas ativações que combinam esporte e tecnologia, ver de perto uma exposição de camisas e memorabilia (itens raros e históricos, como bolas e tênis autografados pelos astros da liga), experimentar a realidade virtual, visitar a NBA Store, onde vai encontrar uma enorme variedade de produtos oficiais e licenciados, e encontrar o Troféu Larry O’Brien (taça entregue aos campeões). A Cisco, líder mundial em tecnologia e parceira da NBA de muitos anos, vai oferecer suas avançadas tecnologias de rede e vídeo para muitas ações interativas na NBA Fan Zone, entre elas a ‘Cisco Telepresence’, uma oportunidade aos fãs de participar de bate-papos em tempo real, por meio de videoconferência, com jogadores da NBA. O espaço vai ocupar uma área de 1.000 m2 em uma das arenas, aberta sempre das 14h às 21h apenas para o público presente ao evento, e são esperadas 700 mil pessoas durante o festival. Do lado de fora da arena, na Experience Bay, uma meia-quadra vai receber convidados, atletas e atrações, e o público vai poder participar de desafios e brincadeiras, misturando basquete e muito ritmo. Grafite, arte, dança e muitas outras surpresas também estão previstas (a programação será divulgada em breve). Durante o evento, os fãs serão convidados a usar a hashtag #NBAnoRockInRio.     LaRocca: How Management Relates to The Success of a Professional Sport Lea LaRocca 1 Joseph LaRocca Professor Moras Honors Capstone February 25, 2019 How Management Relates to The Success of a Professional Sport League: A look at the NBA and NFL For years now the National Football League has been notoriously dubbed by fans and players as the “No Fun League.” Fans look to strict rules regulating celebrations as just one justification for this nickname. Unfortunately, a plethora of other issues have plagued the NFL for years pitting players and, in most cases, fans against team owners and the league commissioner, Roger Goodell. The NFL is a business, and like all businesses, success is heavily reliant on the individual or individuals running the show. Yes, the NFL is a successful organization; they are an organizational powerhouse pumping hours of weekly content into fans homes across the country. They make millions annually in advertisement revenue. So what’s the problem? For players and some fans, the NFL “restricts freedom of expression.” For some players, the NFL forces them to play for a certain team at a set rate using an extremely outdated system called the “Franchise Tag.” Another reason for players bitterness towards this league stems from the past forty years, where they allegedly hid details of playing football’s correlation to long term brain injuries, blacklisting scientists from their industry. Many fans believe the NFL should hold players to the same legal standard as every American citizen. The NBA once again received men’s sports only A+ for racial hiring practices and men’s sports only B+ for gender hiring practices with scores of 97.4 points (up from 96.4) and 88 points (up from 86.5), respectively. The overall grade was an A with 92.7 points, up from 90.9 in the 2014 RGRC. The NBA was the best for all three categories among the men’s professional sports and achieved the highest grade for racial hiring practices in the history of men’s professional sport. Richard Lapchick, the director of The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES or The Institute) and primary author of the report, stated, “No other men’s league reaches the same points for race, gender or the combined score. The NBA remains the industry leader among men’s sports for racial hiring practices. While they did well overall for gender, especially in the League Office, women were still not well represented at the senior team levels and attention needs to be paid there.

More specifically, this study will focus on how basketball fans through image macros, are engaging with different facets of culture, not limited to sport. What makes basketball memes stand out in comparison to memes of other professional sports pertains to the generativity of the image macros. The term ‗generativity‘ refers to how a text through extensive remix, imitation and circulation through online social networks, can potentially invoke indifferent responses from participants who are exposed to the meme. In terms of basketball memes, the images of basketball stars at times become generative in their own right, as a result of the utilisation of them by fans through memes, binding them to a host of different cultural viewpoints, some of which contradict their professionally-crafted star images and the corporate visions of their endorsements, teams and leagues. This fan generativity is influenced by several intervening factors, from the history of the world‘s most famous basketball competition, the NBA, to how the league is marketed, to other cultural influences related to social identities concerning masculinity, politics, religion, sexuality and in particular, race.
