A POEM While presenting the Union Budget on 1st February, 2020, Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance Minister recited the following verse in Kashmiri:

“Saun Watan Gulzar Shalamaar Hyuv Dal Manz Pholvun Pamposh Hyuv Navjavanan hund, Vushun Khumaar Hyuv Myon Watan, Chaun Watan Saun Watan, Nundbon Watan ”

Further she went on to explain the meaning of the Kashmiri verse which is as follows:

“हमारा वतन, खिलते हुए शालीमार बा崼 जैसे। हमारा वतन, खिलत े हुए शालीमार बा崼 जैसे। हमारा वतन, डल लेक मᴂ खिलते हुए कमल जैसा। नव-जवानⴂ के गमम िून जैसा। मेरा वतन-तेरा वतन। हमारा वतन, दखु नया का सबसे ꥍयारा वतन।”

On hearing this, there was thumping of desks from the Treasury Benches.

A KURAL While presenting the Union Budget on 1st February, 2020, Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance Minister recited the following Tamil Kural of Poet Thiruvalluvar:

“Piniyinmai Selvam Vilaivinpam Inbam Emam Aniyenpa Naattiv Vaindhu”

She further went on to give the meaning of the Kural which is as follows: “There are five jewels for a good country. The first is ‘Piniyinmai’. It means, the country will have to be without epidemics or major illnesses. The second, ‘Selvam’. It should have wealth; it should be wealthy. The third is ‘Vilaivinpam’. It means that from the fields, it should have good crop. The fourth is ‘Inbam’. It should have happiness. The fifth is, ‘Emam’. It should have security and safety. Sir, these are five jewels - Piniyinmai, Selvam, Vilaivinpam, Inbam and Emam.”

On hearing this, there was thumping of desks from the Treasury Benches.

A SANSKRIT SLOKA

While presenting the Union Budget on 1st February, 2020, Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance Minister recited a verse from Raghuvamsa written by Kalidasa:-

“प्रजानामेवभूत्यर्थंसताभ्योबलिमग्रहीत।् सहस्रगणु मत्ु ्स्रुमादत्तेिहरसरं िलविः॥”

It means: “Surya, the Sun, collects vapour from little drops of water, so does the King. They give back copiously. They collect this from the people only for their wellbeing.

So, the collection of taxes or the vapor from the water drops are only small trickles. But they all go back to the people, manifold.”

“सवाि जहर का नहीं र्था, वह तो म ℂ पी गया। तकिीफ िोगⴂ को तब हुई, जब म ℂ लफर भी जी गया।”

“Epporul Yaaryaarvai Ketpinum Apporul Meipporul Kaanpa Tharivu”

It means “Whatever is said by diverse people, to discern the truth in everything is wisdom.”

“बाटाँ लदया इस धरती को, चादाँ -लसतारⴂ का क्या होगा? नलदयⴂ के कु छ नाम रखे ह,ℂ बहती धाराओ ंका क्या होगा? लशव की गगं ा भी पानी है, आबे-़िम़िम भी पानी है, म쥍ु िा भी पीये , पलं ित भी पीये , अब पानी का म़िहब क्या होगा? इन लिरकापर्तⴂ स े पूछो, क्या सूरज अिग बनाओग?े एक हवा में सासाँ है सबकी, क्या हवा भी नयी चिाओग?े न्िⴂ का कर े जो बटाँ वारा, रहबर वो कौम का ढⴂगी है, क्या खुदा ने मलददर तोड़ा र्था या राम ने मल्जद तोड़ी है? ”

“Allarpattu Atradhu Azhudha Kanneranrey Selvathai theikum padai”

It means, “Tears shed by the people who suffer due to authoritative and oppressive treatment by the Government have the strength to dethrone the King.

While participating in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address on 04.02.2020, Dr. Satyapal Singh recited the following Sanskrit Sloka from Vishnupurana :

“गायलदत देवा: लक्ि गीतकानन, धादया्तु ये भारतभूलमभाग।े ्वगानयवगान्पदहते ुभूते भवलदत भूय: पु셁षा: सुरत्वात ् ॥”

It means: “वगम के देवता भी यहा ां जन्म लेन े के खलए लालखयत रहते थे। 啍या यह धरती थी। इलाम मत के प्रवतमक मोह륍मद पैग륍बर न े कहा था खक अगर धरती पर कहĂ जन्नत है तो खहन्द के अांदर है। मझु े पूरब स,े खहन्द स े एक नई तरह की िशु बू आती है।”

A SANSKRIT SLOKA

While participating in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address on 04.02.2020, Dr. Satyapal Singh recited the following Sanskrit Sloka from Kalidas’s Malvikagnimitram :

“पुराणलमत्येव न साधु सवं न चालप काव्य ं नवलमत्यवद्यम।

सदत: परीक्ष्यादयभ्दजदते मूढ: परप्रत्ययनेयबुलि॥”

It means: “यह कहना गित है, जो पुराना है वही सब ठीक है। यह कहना भी उतना ही गित है, जो कु छ नया है वही लब쥍कु ि ठीक है। जो लवद्वान िोग होते ह,ℂ परीक्षा के बाद भी, इलततहान के बाद भी जो अ楍छा है उसे ्वीकार करते ह ℂ और जो गित है, उसे दूर कर देते ह।ℂ ”

“हजारⴂ साि नलगनस अपनी बे-नूरी प े रोती है बड़ी मलु ककि से होता है चमन में दीदा-वर पैदा।….”

“…. मोदी जी उठे और लसयासत बदि दी, उदहें जो लमिी, वह लवरासत बदि दी।”

“tchey kamy vonuny tche chhakh bekas te bebas tche kamy vonuny tche bulbul chaeny haarith bihit varaaneny manz kaer maarith tche chhakh himalaychi zit te taeth hish koor tavy chhuy noor aabhushan bharpoor” It means: “Who told you my mother Kashmir is supportless, that she is without any support and that she is helpless? I am with you. Who told you that nightingale, there, does not sing or that she has just stopped singing for you?”

“बबानद ए वतन का लक्सा म ℂ क्या सुनाऊं , इफिास की कहानी लकस-लकस को जा सुनाऊं , रह-रहकर मेर े लदि पर छु ररया ं सी चि रही ह,ℂ आखं ⴂ से मेर े आसं ू की नलदया ं बह रही ह”ℂ । रह-रहकर मेर े लदि पर छु ररया ं सी चि रही ह,ℂ आखं ⴂ से मेर े आसं ू की नलदया ं बह रही ह।ℂ ”

“मलं जि यू ं ही नहीं लमिती दो्त, एक जुनून जगाना पड़ता है, पूछा लचलड़या से, घⴂसिा कै स े बनता है, लचलड़या बोिी, लतनका-लतनका उठाना पड़ता है।“

“जेती लसरलठ उपाई वेखा

“……अव्वि अ쥍िाह नूर उपाया, कु दरत के सब बददे, एक नूर से सब जग उपजया, कौन भिे कौन मददे।”

“नया चेहरा हो हसं ता गाता, हर चेहर े पर हो म्ु कान

नया गगन, पखं नए हⴂ और नए सपने, नई उड़ान।

नई सोच हो, नई क쥍पना हो, नए नीड़ का नवलनमानण
