SUBMITTED PHOTO arvesting the crops is a family affair for the Matt and Ceritha Land family. Matt, a fourth generation farmer from the Bascom commu- nity, continues to survive and adapt to the ever changing farming business. This year’s 2015 cotton, peanuts, and corn crops yielded Ha fairly good harvest. During the growing season, too much or too little rainfall will affect the yield. Matt and Ceritha’s large family are all involved in agriculture in different ways. Sons Casey, Dustin, and Cody continue to help during the planting and harvesting season. The oldest daughter, Callie, is currently working towards her RN degree; Cailyn, Miss Malone in 2012, currently works at Ark Animal Clinic as a veterinarian assistant. During her high school years she was active in leadership roles in the FFA program in Malone and statewide. The three younger girls, Bayla, Taylor and Katie, all love the farm life and hope to continue as farmers. Ceritha, employed by the Marianna post office, and the girls can and preserve much of the family’s food. LEFT: Matt and Ceritha Land with their daughters Katie and Taylor.
