Frankford­ The Council agreed on the date scheduled for a public Dagsboro hearing regarding the proposed Frankford-Dagsboro Sanitary W/S Public Sewer System-June 28, 1972, 8:00 p.m. at the Indian River , Hearing High School. ( 79) June 6, 1972 Page 3 Long Neck Mr. Henry's office was given permission to proceed with Sewer the preparation of a contract for Phase II of the pro­ posed Long Neck Sewage Facilities. M 189 72 Airport Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously carried to authorize Mr. Henry, County Engineer, to adver­ tise for bids for the paving of the Sussex County Airport fueling area. M 190 72 Airpark Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously Phase II carried to authorize Delaware Associated Engineers to proceed with final design and specifications for Phase II of the Sussex County Industrial Airpark. Fire Call Walt Sherwin, Civil Defense Director gave the Fire Call Report Report for the month of May and is as follows: Fires 71 Wash Down 1 Ambulance 305 Fire Marshall 57 Rescue 7 Miscellaneous 87 Red Cross 7 Control Help Line Burning 21 Total 561 M 191 72 Civil Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously Defens e carried to authorize the Director of Finance to issue a check in the amount of $232.36, payable to Preston Truck- ~ ing Company to cover freightcharges for three generators for Civil Defense use. This money will be reimbursed. M 192 72 Holiday Motion by Mr. Briggs, se c onded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously carried thBt July 3rd and 4th be considered a holiday and that the Sussex County Courthouse be closed on both days. M 193 72 Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimosuly carried that the Council recess for lunch. The Council reconvened at 1:15 p.m. PUBLIC HEARINGS C/Z #71 -From AR to C-1 in Broad Creek Hundred, being lands of Horace Jones. M 194 72 Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously carried to concur with the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission and grant approval of this application. C/U #63-An application from Cozy Cove, Inc. to consider the Conditional Use of land in· an AR District in accord­ ance with Article 10, Section 2, Paragraph 24 for a mobile home park in Indian River Hundred on the north side of Rte. 22, west of Massey's Landing, a tract of land known as the "Warrington Farm" and containing 135 acres. The decision on this application was reserved by the Council until a recommendation is made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. C/U #64-An application from Jennings E. Williams to con­ sider the Conditional Use of land in an AR District in accordance with Article 10, Section 2, Paragraph 26 for a cabinet shop and material storage in Broad Creek Hundred on the northwest side of Rte. 28, 2.2 miles northeast of Rte. 13 and containing 1.75 acres, more or less.

Mr. Marino informed the Council of the various agencies that have been contacted regarding the problem.

    Minutes June 24, 2010 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF JUNE 24, 2010 The regular meeting of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission was held Thursday evening, June 24, 2010 in the County Council Chambers, County Administrative Office Building, in Georgetown, Delaware. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with Chairman Wheatley presiding. The following members of the Commission were present: Mr. Robert Wheatley, Mr. Rodney Smith, Mr. I. G. Burton, Mr. Michael Johnson, with Mr. Vincent Robertson – Assistant County Attorney, and Mr. Lawrence Lank – Director. Motion by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Johnson, and carried unanimously to approve the Agenda as circulated. Motion carried 4 - 0. Motion by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Burton, and carried with three votes to approve the Minutes of June 10, 2010 as amended. Motion carried 3 – 0. Mr. Johnson abstained since he was not present during the June 10, 2010 meeting. OLD BUSINESS C/Z #1668 – application of CB TWIN CEDARS, LLC to amend the Comprehensive Zoning Map from a GR General Residential District and a C-1 General Commercial District to a GR- RPC General Residential District – Residential Planned Community for a certain parcel of land lying and being in Baltimore Hundred, Sussex County, land lying south of Road 382 (Route 20 and Zion Church Road) 1,000 feet east of Road 388 (Bixler Road), to be located on 58.55 acres, more or less. The Commission discussed this application which has been deferred since May 27, 2010. Mr. Smith stated that he would move that the Commission recommend approval of C/Z #1668 for Twin Cedars, LLC for a change in zoning from GR General Residential and C-1 General Commercial to a GR-RPC General Residential District – Residential Planned Community based upon the record and for the following reasons: 1) The property is currently primarily zoned GR General Residential and partly C-1 General Commercial.

    Collected Notes on CHRIST CHURCH, BROAD CREEK and HER NEIGHBORS. by Henry H. Hutchinson, 1963. INTRODUCTION Old Christ Church, sometimes known as Broad Creek Church, is lo­ cated about two miles east of Laurel, Sussex County, Delaware, and is in Broad Creek Hundred. It is on the south bank of Chipman's Pond, which is on the north fork of Broad Creek, sometimes called Gray's Branch. Original building, still in good condition, has been repaired but never altered from, its · original design. Has huge hand hewn beams, old broad pine board box pews, hanging pulpit, etc. Annual services now held here on Whitsunday • • j RELIGIOUS LIFE IN COLONIAL DELAWARE M. Catherine Downing Religious life in co~onial Delaware was so closely allied to its political history that, in order to understand why some denominations disappeared and others flourished, it is necessary to recall by what manner of people the colony was founded. In 1631 the Dutch settled at Swanendael, "Valley of the Swans", present Lewes, but the entire colony was massacred by Indians. The Swedes came next in 1638 to the area of Wilmington. In 1651 the Dutch returned to Delaware, this time settling at New Amstel (New Castle), and in 1655 seized control of the Swedish colony. In 1664 both Swedes and Dutch were overthrown by the EngUsh, who maintained control until Dela­ ware became a state in 1776. With each group of settlers sent from a European cowitry under the auspices of the governing authority, the state religion was a part of the colonization plan. Just as the colony was governed by the Mother country, so was the church controlled and fostered by the governing church body of that country which supplied the ministers and nost of their support.

Comfort was born on 28 Apr 1738 in Sussex County, Delaware and died on 12 Feb 1801 in Dagsboro Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware at age 62. Children from this marriage were: 2 M i. Thomas Marvel was born on 8 Mar 1761 in Dagsboro Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware and died on 4 Sep 1836 in Sussex County, Delaware at age 75. Thomas married Leah Jones (b. 30 Mar 1772, d. 20 Jun 1808) on 7 Jan 1796 in Sussex County, Delaware. Thomas next married Priscilla Prissa Harris (b. 19 Sep 1761, d. 7 Sep 1795) on 18 Oct 1784 in Sussex County, Delaware. Thomas next married Andasiah McColley (b. 29 Oct 1764, d. 25 Jul 1845) on 20 Aug 1808 in Sussex County, Delaware. 3 F ii.
