2.5. Diagnostic Notes **Adult**

**Apterous Viviparous**: Medium-sized, 1.0-3.0 mm long; antennae with smooth imbrications; antennal tubercle and usually median tubercle well-developed marking front of head W-shaped; ventral margin of antennal socket protuberant; rostrum 4-segmentted, apical segment conical, pointed distad of preapical primary setae. Disc of head smooth in alata and aptera; thorax and abdomen not strongly sculptured; forewing with normal venation, media with 3 branches; claws simple. Dorsal abdominal setae capitate, usually long, conspicuous, set on small papillae, arranged in 3-8 longitudianl rows; lateral tubercles usually absent. Siphunculus elongate and cylindrical or clavate, with or without setae, with apical flange, nearly smooth or with smooth and weakly spiculose imbrications. Cauda elongate, usually with nearly parallel sideds, broadly rounded apically. Anal plate triangular; abdomen without gland facets.
