EVANGELICAL UNITED BRETHREN BISHOPS by oh H. Ness, Jr. The October, 1968 issue of Methodist History carried a tabulation of the bishops of the former Methodist Church and its antecedents. This list, prepared by Bishop Roy H. Short, has proven to be a valuable tool for research students. The following list completes in a similar fashion the bishops of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church and its antecedents. Since a bishop generally was elected for a four-year period rather than for life, it has been necessary to handle this listing a little differently from the predecessor list. The table lists all of the bishops of the church from 1807 to 1968. After the name there follows the year of birth, date of d-eath, years in the episcopacy, date of ordination as Elder, and the name of the bishop who ordained him.
