I don’t know if it was really, technically a demon, but I do know that he was some kind of monster, with fangs and claws and the whole bit, and he killed a lot of people. So I killed him. I think it was the right thing to do. At least the killing stopped. Well, it stopped for a while. In I AM NOT A , John Wayne Cleaver saved his town from a murderer even more appalling than the serial killers he obsessively studies. But it turns out even demons have friends, and the disappearance of one has brought another to Clayton County. Soon there are new victims for John to work on at the mortuary and a new mystery to solve. But John has tasted death, and the dark nature he used as a weapon—the terrifying persona he calls “Mr. Monster”—might now be using him. No one in Clayton is safe unless John can vanquish two nightmarish adversaries: the unknown demon he must hunt and the inner demon he can never escape. REVIEWS. “In this sequel to his brilliant debut, Dan Wells ups the ante with a that is just as gripping and even more intense. He apologizes in advance for the nightmares.” —Review by Thea James. “Suffice to say, Mr Monster far surpasses the original. It is darker, funnier, and tighter throughout. The new serial killer is John’s scariest adversary yet and the ending is a downright killer. Expect a third book… the final chapter indicates it is going to be absolutely explosive. This is fast becoming my favorite book franchise. Mr Monster undoubtedly provides one of the best reads of 2010.” —Review by Marty Mulrooney. “With Mr. Monster, Dan Wells has given us an intense, riveting, gut-wrenching dive into the dark world of the demons within us. His main character, John Wayne Cleaver, manages to thoroughly freak us out while simultaneously being one of the most sympathetic characters in the horror genre. Let your own inner monster free, and immerse yourself in this dark, page-turning adventure.” —Review by Steve Diamond. “Creepy, haunting, and completely disturbing, Mr. Monster grabs you by the scruff of the neck and drags you through ta delicious blend of the supernatural and murder most foul.” –Review by The San Diego Union-Tribune.
