Hello Since 1994, Media UK - www.mediauk.com - has contained a full media directory. We now contain media news from over 50 sources, RAJAR and playlist information, the industry's widest selection of radio jobs, and much more - and it's all free. From our directory, we're proud to be able to produce a new edition of the Radio Pocket Book. We've based this on the Radio Authority version that was available when we launched 17 years ago. We hope you find it useful. Enjoy this return of an old favourite: and set mediauk.com on your browser favourites list. The year before I had listened with excitement to the launch of our local commercial station, Liverpool's Radio City, and wanted to find out what other stations I might be able to pick up. In those days the Guide covered TV as well as radio, which could only manage to fill two pages – but then there were only 19 “ILR” stations.

  • Kenilworth Christmas Lights 2017 the Future of Our Lights
HEWLETT-PACKARD Kenilworth Christmas Lights 2017 The future of our lights Written by Cllrs Marilyn Bates and Richard Hales June 2017 BACKGROUND Kenilworth Christmas Lights Committee (KCLC) was formed in order to manage the infrastructure and accounting of the lights each year. The management of it is complex which is why it was deemed better to be run outside of Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) although its members are made up of Town Councillors, business people from the town and a representative from Warwick District Council (WDC). The Chairman is usually a member of KTC. The Committee is responsible for requesting donations from businesses around the town, which in 2016, amounted to £16,034.00: £12,500 of which went to WDC for managing the event and the installation of the lights using their company choice of ‘Highlight’. Up until mid 2016 the Town Centre Manager ran the meetings and liaised with WDC but when this role was withdrawn from Kenilworth the Chairman took over the meetings. THE COMMITTEE Cllr. Richard Hales (Chairman) Cllr. Marilyn Bates John Bausor Jonathan Holland Sue Powell (Treasurer) Morris Bond James Deville (WDC representative for 2017) LIGHT SWITCH-ON EVENTS There are historically two switch-on events, one in Warwick Road and one a week later in High Street. The atmosphere and events themselves are very different with Warwick Road being judged as a family event and High Street as a more sociable, mature event. The lights in High Street are not in need of change and are very in-keeping with the area, however the same cannot be said of Warwick Road.

  • Muxco Oxfordshire Limited
MuxCo Oxfordshire Limited An application to Ofcom for the Oxfordshire local DAB digital radio multiplex Part A – Public Section August 2007 Executive summary Please provide a summary of your application, of no more than four pages in length. Beliefs 1. MuxCo believes that digital radio broadcasting should be available to as many organisations as possible. In addition, a multiplex operator should offer a wide range of broadcast options, such as programme choice, variable bit rates and hours of broadcast, in order that DAB is as economical as possible to potential service providers. 2. MuxCo also believes that with the availability of more national capacity, it is financially prudent to encourage a range of local operators to broadcast. Local (and regional) services have the ability to attract a mixture of local and national revenue, giving them multiple opportunities to support their business. 3. MuxCo also believes that, where possible, existing analogue stations should be encouraged to become available digitally as soon as possible, allowing a consistent DAB focused message to be broadcast to existing radio listeners and to create strong cross-promotional opportunities for the platform. The Oxfordshire Marketplace 4. 2007 marks the millennium of the County of Oxfordshire. It also marks a turning point for its media. Commercial radio came to Oxfordshire relatively late, with Fox FM, the county’s first commercial service, launching in 1989. Whilst over the last 18 years additional locally focused services have launched serving the City of Oxford and Banbury, the current choice of commercial radio in the county still remains poor. 5. As a result, the BBC’s dominance has grown in recent years.

The secure ‘localness’ on local commercial radio research data presented in Ofcom’s stations could be satisfied if stations were able consultation document is compelling. It is also to reduce the amount of locally-made backed up by The Radiocentre’s 2015 study into programming they provide? If not, please commercial radio listening. We would add to it, explain the reasons and/or evidence which our experience as “Super Local” commercial support your view. stations that listeners’ localness expectations are also increasingly about our stations’ involvement on web based platforms, live events, and participation in (or leadership of) local community initiatives. A great deal of our impact on localness is now delivered in ways that are not confined to our hours of local broadcasting. The Ofcom research demonstrates that music is the main driver of radio listening – but of course music tastes are primarily national, and anyone can broadcast music from anywhere. Because of that, in our “Super Local” stations, local content has become our main competitive asset. We therefore welcome the flexibility to deliver this content with less regulatory constraint. Local content for us is an existential issue – reducing the required amount of locally made programming will not reduce the local character of our services. We would go further – the lighter the regulatory constraint the freer we are to fulfil our mission of high quality local content.
