Designer Notes
Designer’s Notes I started work on this game several years ago at the request of Rich Hamilton. I am sure I tried his patience as progress was always slow and sometimes non-existent. While I had helped to playtest Soviet – Afghan Wars and even designed a few scenarios for that game, I had a lot to learn about putting a game together from the ground up. I am still learning as I am sure the play-testers would be happy to confirm. When I was told that the subject of the game would be the Falklands War of 1982, my initial thought was that it would have to be combined with some other conflicts, such as Grenada and Panama to provide enough material for scenarios. However, the more I read about the war, I realized that this was not necessary at all. Unlike any other tactical wargame I am aware of, in Squad Battles Falklands, there are scenarios that cover almost every action above squad level that actually occurred, along with several that did not occur, but might have. This gives the gamer, as well as the designer, a change to fully experience the conflict from beginning to end. It also provides a number of small scenarios utilizing elite troops, such as the SAS, SBS and the Argentine Commandos This game uses the weapon values from Squad Battles Tour of Duty, with only a few changes. HEAT type weapons have a reduced lethality, but the flag that doubles their lethality against vehicles. This was started in Soviet – Afghan Wars and I have retained it. -

Paper 112 1972 – 1982 Negotiation
Falklands Wars – the History of the Falkland Islands: with particular regard to Spanish and Argentine pretensions and taking some account of South Georgia, the South Sandwich Islands and Britain's Antarctic Territories by Roger Lorton 1 Paper 112 1972 – 1982 Negotiation “the only other option open to the Argentine government is a resort to force.” 3 ◈ In 1965 the United Nations had called upon the UK and Argentina to commence negotiations with a view to resolve the single issue that lay between them – sovereignty over the Falkland Islands. Talks had started in 1968, but had been slow to produce anything tangible. Added to the different perceptions of historic rights, which neither side were prepared to discuss, there was an addition problem. Just the year after calling for negotiations, the UN had adopted the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Unsigned by Argentina, and only reluctantly acknowledged by the UK, the Covenant confirmed that “all people have the right of self-determination.” Not a principle to be aimed for, but a human right. Th Covenant acknowledged that only the Falkland Islanders could decide their future, giving them a power of veto over any deal that could be struck with Argentina. This paper considers the slow breakdown in negotiations and the changing political landscape in Argentina. Mixed together, they would produce a fateful decision. 1972 – January 7th, Libertad sails from Buenos Aires with tourists for Antarctica. On board is Britain's Ambassador to Argentina, Michael Hadow. With him is Mario Izaguirre, of Argentina’s Foreign Ministry. Both bound for Stanley. 4 January 8th, Argentina's state-owned airline, LADE, initiates twice-monthly amphibious flights between Comodoro Rivadavia and the Falkland Islands. -

La construcción de la figura heroica de Giachino. Today you'll become a Hero. The Giachino's heroic figure construction. Palabras clave: Memoria social – Guerra de Malvinas – Derechos Humanos Abstract: On 2011 the Mar del Plata city council president decided to remove a Pedro Giachino's picture who was the first fallen soldier and first argentinian hero at the Malvinas War.
