City of Rivers With more than 130 rivers crisscrossing Tokushima City, waterways were historically the network of choice for transport and commerce. However, land reclamation projects narrowed most of the rivers in the city center during the 20th century, and modernization brought both convenient roads and increasing pollution. Many Tokushimans started to view rivers as incidental scenery.

Shishikui Harbour Festival 宍喰港祭り

Come along to view this spectacular parade on the waters 大漁旗で飾った漁船による水床湾のパレードが行われます。 off the coast of Shishikui Harbour! The parade will be 数隻の漁船が一斉にパレードする様子は勇壮で迫力がありま followed by Awa Odori featuring local dancing groups, す！また、地元の「宍喰やっと連」をはじめ 4 連が競演し、 and topped off by a fireworks display! 阿波踊り終了後に打ち上げ花火を予定しています。
