C No greater pleasure can the motorist experience than long stretches of level, dustless, non-slippery roads—he can ' open out ' without fear. Such are the roads, surfaced with "Bitumuls" and "Colfix ." These two cold Bitumen Emulsions are used in all parts of this country and abroad . HE total length of the T.T. course—known as the Ards Circuit—is 13 2/3 miles, and except that it contains no T really severe hill, it embodies in its three "legs" almost all the attributes of the ideal course for a road race . It includes corners of all descriptions, easy bends that can be taken very nearly "all out," more acute bends calling for a slackening of speed, followed by rapid acceleration, and right angle turns, hairpins and the like, demanding efficient brakes and a frequent use of the gear box . It also includes a two mile straight where every ounce of speed can be employed, and plenty of open stretches to facilitate passing.

The hirer shall not levy any charge in connection with any period without obtaining prior consent of the Manager to do so.

    Maughold of Man Eilis Fitzsimons Queen's University, Belfast For some years now I have been studying the spread of the cult of St. Mochae, who is generally associated with the monastic site of Nendrum on Island Mahee in Strangford Lough, Co. Down.1 Although Nendrum is regarded as a very important early Christian settlement,2 its most famous saint, Mochae, has faded into obscurity and is hardly known today. However, he was once a saint of great stature and in the course of my research I have identified many cult sites throughout Ireland. In this paper I hope to argue that MacCuill/Maughold represents the presence of a cult of Mochae in the Isle of Man. Before talking about Maughold, it is necessary to outline the theories of Professor Padraig Ó Riain on which my research was based. This outline will, of necessity, be brief but I hope not overly simplistic. It is generally accepted nowadays that much of what has been handed down to us in manuscripts about the early centuries of Christianity is not a true and historical description of personages and events but was strongly influenced by political expediency.
