Belinda Gibson appointed non-executive director of Citigroup Pty Limited

Sydney, 19 September 2014: Citibank Australia today announced the appointment of Belinda Gibson as a non-executive director of Citigroup Pty Limited, the legal entity which trades as Citibank in Australia.

Ms Gibson is a corporate advisor. She was Deputy Chair of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), and before that a corporate and securities law partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques. She is a Trustee of The Australian Museum and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Business at the University of NSW.

Citigroup Country Officer Australia and Citibank Australia Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Roberts and Mr Richard Warburton, Chairman of Citigroup Pty Limited, said, “we are very pleased to announce the appointment of Belinda to the board. Belinda is one of Australia’s most respected financial regulators and brings to the board a depth of experience across financial markets, banking and business.”

Ms Gibson was with ASIC from 2007 to 2013, where she had primary responsibility for the regulation of the financial and securities markets. She has extensive experience in policy formulation at both the federal government level and at international securities commissions’ forums and was ASIC’s representative on the Financial Reporting Council for two years. At Mallesons she specialised in negotiating complex corporate transactions.

Ms Gibson has a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Law from the University of Cambridge.
