OLLECTORS CAFE PRESENTS Jackie Robinson’s Original 1945 Montreal Royals and Original 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers Contracts Founding Documents of the Civil Rights Movement OLLECTORS CAFE The Global, Lifestyle, Collectibles Brand is Coming! The Collectibles and Memorabilia industry is a $250+ billion dollar per year global market that is substantially fragmented with no one entity owning more than one half of one percent of market share. Further, there is NO MEETING PLACE for collectors to gather with other like minded collectors socially, and display their passion for their own collections. Lastly, there is no place to purchase all categories of collectibles, under one trusted umbrella, in a safe, AUTHENTICITY INSURED, environment. This is all about to change with the launch of the Collectors Cafe Company, where “PRE-APPRAISED, “PRE-AUTHENTICATED” and “PRE-INSURED” collectibles will be coming soon. Through the invention of AUTHENTICITY INSURANCE by company founder Mykalai Kontilai, Collectors Cafe has successfully executed agreements with some of the largest insurance companies who will underwrite all collectibles offered on the website. Lloyds of London (Hiscox), AIG, Liberty Mutual, Chubb, C.V Starr, Navigators, and XL are all exclusive underwriters and partners. This amazing accomplishment, we believe, will spark a COLLECTIBLES REVOLUTION, which will begin to consolidate the industry through the first online and global “One-Stop Shop” for buying, selling, and social networking for the entire collectibles market place. Driving the brand will be a plethora of multi-media assets, including but not limited to, the Collectors Cafe TV Series, The Collectors Cafe Blogger Network, The Collectors Tube Digital Content Platform, The Collectors Cafe Celebrity Collector Portal, The Collectors Cafe Master Dealer Network, and the Collectors Cafe IP Portfolio.

Innovative Office Solutions Named 2009 Jackie Robinson “Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner” by Minnesota Twins and Major League Baseball Award recognizes excellence among minority- and women-owned business partners BURNSVILLE, MINN. (April 23, 2009) Innovative Office Solutions, official office supply provider to the Minnesota Twins, has been selected for the 2009 Jackie Robinson “Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner” (MVDBP) Award by the Minnesota Twins and Major League Baseball (MLB). The award recognizes proactive leadership, commitment to sound business practices, quality product, efficiency, reliability and accountability as key attributes in its recipients. In 1998, MLB Commissioner, Allan H. (Bud) Selig, authorized the creation of the Diverse Business Partner program, a business initiative established to cultivate new and existing partnerships with minority- and women-owned businesses by increasing opportunities for them to participate in the procurement activities of MLB. “Working with the Minnesota Twins and Major League Baseball is both fun and rewarding, and we‟re honored to be recognized by this award among our peers in the Diverse Business Partner program,” said Jennifer Smith, CEO of Innovative Office Solutions. “Innovative Office Solutions strives for excellence with our „Relationships Matter‟ approach to customer service, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Minnesota Twins.” Smith accepted the award and threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis as MLB celebrated Jackie Robinson Day on April 15, 2009, the 62nd anniversary of his courageous trot onto the field as the first African-American to play in the Major Leagues. Smith established Innovative Office Solutions in 2001, and has grown the organization into a multimillion dollar office supply company.

Keywords: baseball, sports, Major League Baseball, Spanish, Latinos Introduction The purpose of this paper is to highlight the remarkable contribution made to Major League Baseball (MLB) by players from Spanish America both in terms of © Clara González Tosat Hispanic Digital Newspapers in the United States Informes del Observatorio / Observatorio Reports. 016-12/2015EN ISSN: 2373-874X (online) doi: 10.15427/OR016-12/2015EN Instituto Cervantes at FAS - Harvard University © Instituto Cervantes at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Harvard University quantity and quality.1 The central idea is that the significant and valuable Spanish-American presence in the sports arena has a very positive impact on the collective psyche of the immigrant community to which these athletes belong. Moreover, this impact extends beyond the limited context of sport since, in addition to the obvious economic benefits for many families, it enhances the image of the Spanish-speaking community in the United States. At the level of language, contact allows English to influence Spanish, especially in the area of vocabulary, which Spanish assimilates and adapts according to its own peculiar structures. Baseball, which was invented in the United States during the first half of the nineteenth century, was introduced into Spanish America about thirty or forty years later.

  • Twar: Introducing a Method to Actually Calculate Wins Above Replacement
tWAR: introducing a method to actually calculate wins above replacement Daniel J. Eck March 21, 2019 1 Introduction Wins above replacement (WAR) is meant to be a one-number summary of the total contribution made by a player for his team in any particular season. As stated by Steve Slowinski of Fangraphs, WAR offers an estimate to answer the question, \If this player got injured and their team had to replace them with a freely available player of lower quality from their bench, how much value would the team be losing," where this value is expressed in number of wins [Slowinski, 2010]. That being said, nobody actually calculates WAR in a manner that properly answers the above question as posed. This is not by any explicit fault of the metric and those who calculate it. One problem is that it is impossible to simultaneously quantify the value of a player when the player is available and the value of a replacement to that player when the player is unavailable. The player in question is either available to play or unavailable to play, never both. Instead of confronting the problems raised in this factual-counterfactual world, people have attempted to calculate a hypothetical replacement player to implicitly compare every player with using the machinery of a proprietary black box [Baumer et al., 2015]. Three widely used versions of WAR that are calculated in this manner are Baseball Reference's bWAR [Reference, 2010], Fangraphs's fWAR [Slowinski, 2010], and Baseball Prospectus's bWARP [Prospectus, 2019]. Through the incorporation of ideas from causal inference, we propose methodolody to directly estimate wins above replacement.
