“The quality of teaching is very high and there is interaction between students and tutors. The students are given opportunity to express themselves and ask questions”

“The programme content is first class, the lecturers are experts in the field in which where I am studying and the university has great facilities and the library and spaces for studying are excellent”

“The experience I have gained here so far has already impacted on my professional practice and allowed me to develop new skills”

“The university has helped me a great deal, and knowing what I do now, I wish that someone had recommended it to me”

“Standard of education is fantastic. The ability to become involved in the university is fantastic. There are amazing opportunities all year round. Staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond for students at times” Learning comments – what could improve?

“Very poor communication between the Uni and students. Unaware of when I need to get things done (e.g. I was only informed yesterday about the reports I have to write for my placement year however I started my placement 3 months ago)”

“I think that the course needs to be more specific with work allocation and give direct instruction on areas that need to be covered and with hand in dates”

“Group engagement is very low, classmates are generally strangers to each other, this has very negative impacts on group projects”

“However sometimes I feel like there aren't enough opportunities outside of lectures to get support with assignments”

“Some teachers are better than others, but what I miss, compared to my home uni, is the personal attention from teachers” All materials strictly copyright © i-graduate 2016 85 Student engagement – Challenges – all students

“theres always something to do and somewhere to go and someone to see. the people are crazy friendly and everyone is constantly on the go”

“The sports clubs are brilliant and there are loads of opportunities to get involved in various different things”

“the university itself () is beautiful and the people are super friendly. Leeds itself is great as well, with loads of activities and friendly people”

“The whole university experience has been amazing, as someone who really worries about the social side of it i have loved every second of it and i have really grown as a person”

Living comments – what could improve?

“There is no recycling available at my accommodation, that would have been nice”

“There are a lot of events for internationals. But I would like to get to know more British native speakers. It is difficult to talk a lot during the lectures”

“More bursaries should be available for students who are finding it hard to get by with their rent”

“They say we recycle in our accommodation but when we take the bins out it all goes in the same bin”

“Additional financial aid isn't as available as made out. 3 weeks for an emergency loan isn't an acceptable time to wait when you have no money”

“its difficult to find friends here maybe because Iam from different culture or maybe the media but overall people in leeds are polite and helpful” All materials strictly copyright © i-graduate 2016 108 Support matrix – all students
