Busseto (Italy) | Refitting | Lighting Busseto is a municipality in the plains surrounding Parma, famous for being the birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi, who maintained a close link with his home town for his entire life. Two hundred years after Verdi’s birth, Busseto is still a centre for opera activity, in homage to the great maestro.

Busseto è un comune della bassa pianura parmense, famoso per aver dato i natali a Giuseppe Verdi che mantenne per tutta la sua lunga vita uno stretto legame con la sua città natale. A duecento anni dalla nascita di Verdi, Busseto è ancora al centro di una intensa attività operistica, in omaggio al grande maestro.

Busseto (Italy) | Refitting | Lighting The historic centre of Busseto was illuminated by Neri in 1991, with ‘Light 800’ lanterns in cast brass. Today, the same lanterns, which were previously equipped with sodium vapor lamps, were refitted with an LED kit designed specifically by Neri, and the city has taken on a different appearance, a much warmer and more welcoming one compared to the previous sodium-vapor light sources. This presentation illustrates the city’s new night- time appearance.

Il centro storico di Busseto fu illuminato da Neri nel 1991, con lanterne Light 800 in fusione di ottone. Oggi le stesse lanterne, che in precedenza erano lampade al vapore di sodio, sono state equipaggiate con un kit LED appositamente studiato da Neri, e la città ha assunto un altro aspetto, molto più caldo ed accogliente rispetto alle precedenti sorgenti luminose ai vapori di sodio. Illustriamo con questa presentazione il nuovo volto notturno della città.

Busseto (Italy) | Refitting | Lighting The square, named after Giuseppe Verdi, still maintains its fifteenth-century rectangular layout and is overlooked by the bronze monument erected in 1913. Marking 100 years since his birth, it depicts the maestro watching over the town, sat quietly on a bench.

La piazza, intitolata a Giuseppe Verdi, mantiene tutt’oggi l’assetto quattrocentesco a pianta rettangolare ed è dominata dal monumento bronzeo realizzato nel 1913, in occasione dei 100 anni della nascita, raffigurante il maestro che veglia sul paese, quietamente seduto su di uno scranno.

Alle spalle del monumento a Verdi sorge la rocca, attualmente sede del Municipio, costruita nell’XI secolo dai marchesi Pallavicino, signori di Busseto. La rocca fu riedificata più volte nei secoli, fino alla ricostruzione in stile neogotico, avvenuta fra il 1857 e il 1868 che ha inglobato parti significative del castello originale.

Ad angolo rispetto la Piazza sorge la Collegiata di San Bartolomeo costruita in mattoni in stile gotico.

Busseto (Italy) | Refitting | Lighting Constructed in Renaissance style in 1518, the villa was the summer residence of the Pallavicino marquis. Now owned by the Municipality of Busseto, in 2009, it became the seat for the Giuseppe Verdi National Museum. In its 22 rooms, the museum recreates the original backdrops from each of the 27 operas written by Verdi, enriched by reproductions of the original stage clothing and by the maestro’s music.

Edificata in stile rinascimentale a partire dal 1518 la villa fu residenza estiva dai marchesi Pallavicino. Il Comune di Busseto, che oggi ne ha la proprietà, nel 2009 l’ha trasformata in sede del museo nazionale Giuseppe Verdi. Il museo riproduce nelle sue 22 sale gli allestimenti originali di ognuna delle 27 opere liriche scritte da Giuseppe Verdi, arricchiti dalle riproduzioni degli abiti originali di scena e dalle musiche del maestro.
