Legendary American Rock Band Chicago to Perform Live with Charlotte Symphony One Night Only: 8 Pm Sat, Sept 21 at Belk Theater
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Jamie Wolf, 704-714-5112 or [email protected] LEGENDARY AMERICAN ROCK BAND CHICAGO TO PERFORM LIVE WITH CHARLOTTE SYMPHONY ONE NIGHT ONLY: 8 PM SAT, SEPT 21 AT BELK THEATER August 21, 2013 | CHARLOTTE, NC - Chicago—one of the most successful rock groups in history—is bringing its powerful live show to open the Charlotte Symphony's Pops Series this fall. From the signature sound of the Chicago horns, their iconic vocalists and a few dozen ever-classic songs, this band’s concerts are celebrations! The band line-up includes original Chicago members Robert Lamm on keyboards and vocals, Lee Loughnane on trumpet, James Pankow on trombone and Walt Parazaider on woodwinds. Other members are Jason Scheff on bass and vocals, drummer Tris Imboden, guitarist Keith Howla, Lou Pardini on keyboards and vocals and Wally Reyes on percussion. Symphony-goers may find this interesting: original member Parazaider, a De Paul University graduate, was offered a spot with the Chicago Symphony in the early years but opted to stick with the band instead. The “legendary rock and roll band with horns,” Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades. In Billboard Magazine's list of Top 100 artists of all time, Chicago came in at #13, the highest charting American band, having produced an incredible 47 gold and platinum records. Most recently, in March of 2013, Chicago’s multi-platinum two-disc bestseller, The Very Best Of Chicago, Only The Beginning charted at #1 on two Billboard charts: the Catalog Chart and the Digital Catalog chart. -

If you have been before, you know Liverpool during International Beatleweek is a fan’s heaven. If you have not visited before, you really don’t know what you are missing. Whether you are a Beatles fanatic, a general-interest fan or indeed a music fan at all, there is something here for everybody. There simply is no demographic, as fans of all ages and backgrounds congregate from over forty different countries to make this the biggest and best festival of its type anywhere in the world; and how fitting that Liverpool – “Where It All Began” – is the perennial host to this spectacular celebration. For seven straight days and nights the city echoes to the sound of its four most famous sons. There are parties, concerts, gigs, theatre shows, guest speakers, art exhibitions, tours, auctions, flea markets, film shows, lectures, forums and much, much more. Typically the best Beatles tribute bands from over 20 countries will provide the backdrop of music for over 15 hours every day. What more can any Beatles fan want? This year we are trying a completely new concept as all 70 International Beatleweek bands have rehearsed a different album from the careers of John, Paul, George and Ringo ranging from 1963 to present day. -

Will she win? We certainly hope so. 2 magazine, which would cover the music and culture (and the attendant lifestyle and politics) that interested me, and I realised then that now I was being given the chance. As I have always admitted, I am growing up in public and that I have no real long term plan with any of the things that I do, except to seize the opportunities that I can, and basically make it up as I go along, going in whatever direction the Fates send me. Which is basically how I live my life. So this new advancement is allowing me to produce something that is far more like a magazine than it was before. I am very much an old fashioned sort of fellow, and don’t really like many new fangled things. E-books are a particular gripe of mine—I have an e-book reader (mainly because they were incredibly cheap at Asda) and I use it mostly for reading pdfs of technical journals in bed, or reading So welcome to the first issue of the new look Gonzo P.G. Wodehouse novels whilst I am travelling Weekly. somewhere, but for me at least the e-book has only a very limited appeal. I am always amazed at how fast technology advances and how we can all do things now that E-magazines, however, are an entirely different would have been unthinkable even five years ago. -

Badfinger: La Maldición De Los “Nuevos Beatles”
