Round 18 Sunday, July 24 2016 Sunshine Coast Stadium V Under 18 Boys v Brisbane Strikers FC 10:00am Women v SWQ Thunder FC 12:00pm Senior Men v Brisbane Strikers FC 2:00pm www.sunshinecoastfc.com.au From the Managing Director Welcome all, It’s great to have the Under 18s, Women and Senior Men back at the Sunshine Coast Stadium today against SWQ Thunder and Brisbane Strikers. The Under 18 Boys are looking to notch another win following their mid-week win against Olympic FC. This is also the first time this season that the Women have played at the Stadium and they are hoping to bounce back from last week’s setback against Eastern Suburbs. The Senior Men have been in top form lately and they will be looking to add a fourth win in a row today in the hopes of moving further up the ladder. Strikers currently sit in second place so it will be a challenge, but one that I think Fire can overcome. Don’t forget to buy a ticket for the Wishlist Charity Raffle which will be drawn at half-time of the Men’s game. The first prize is a PlayStation 4 and there is plenty more to win. All proceeds will go to Wishlist so get in and help a good cause. I would also like to encourage parents to register your children for the September Holiday Camp which will take place in the second week of the school holidays from 26 to 29 September. Best of luck to everyone today. GO THE FIRE!! In other news around the club, we congratulate Audrey Upson (U13’s Girls) in representing the Fire at the State girls tournament, also, Todd Camm and Alex Patterson who have been selected into the state U13’s squad, as well as Harry Arnison, Jack Beardsley and Brodie Boyce selected into the U14’s State Squad. We wish all players well in the state titles later in the year. Our SAP squad has continued to flourish under the stewardship of Stuart Michael and Connor Gordon, whilst our Girls programs have also turned the corner with Abbi who has been working extremely hard to bring in players for the future. Our recent holiday program was again a major success, with over 100 participants taking part in a fun filled week, which also was productive in recruitment for our Elite Academy program, SAP program, as well as picking up new NPL players for the 2017 season. Please visit our website for details on our September Holiday Camp. Our Elite Academy program has seen some excellent growth through the hard work put in by Dan Carswell and Shoichi Koshimizu who has been our schools coordinator, we have now developed a 5 – 7 years of age program which takes place once a week on a Wednesday at Kawana Sports Precinct, please feel free to email our administration department or our Academy Director Dan Carswell to request a trial. [email protected] or [email protected] We are still taking booking for our successful free in-schools coaching program as part of our talent identification and outreach programs, if you are part of a school and would like further information please contact [email protected] to secure your free five week program in term 4. We look forward to seeing you all at the games. Melvyn Wilkes Technical Director of Coaching Sunshine Coast FC From the Senior Men’s Coach I’d like to welcome everyone from Brisbane Strikers to the Stadium for the game this afternoon. The players have worked hard throughout the bye week so they’re ready to go again today. Strikers are second in the league so today’s game is going to be a tough one, but our last three games have been tough and we’ve come out ahead. That said, I think all of our players are fresh and prepared for whatever Strikers send our way. Sam Saif Senior Men Coach Sunshine Coast FC From the Women’s Coach This week’s game we welcome SWQ Thunder to the Coast, this will be a very tough game. They have some very quick and powerful ladies. We need to be sharp and very aware to get a result from this game. Our defensive set up is key in games like this. It’s about defending in numbers and restricting chances. We have played some good counter attacking football against some of the top teams and not been rewarded for it, hopefully this game we will get something from it. We have been creating good chances since Danielle has come into the team. Kirsty and Samara have hit some good form and we are looking dangerous going forward. Anyone who watches this game is in for a cracker!! Lets hope we can produce something special for the club. Tom White Women’s Coach Sunshine Coast FC 2016 September Holiday Camp Sunshine Coast FC’s September Holiday Camp will be held from Monday, 26 September to Thursday, 29 September. Jeskey made the move to Fire, having previously played for Gold Coast City earlier in the year and Brisbane Premier League outfit Mitchelton FC in 2015. The 27-year-old Chicago native has also played abroad for Sporting Kristina in Finland’s third-tier league Kakkonen in 2014. Jeskey credits Sunshine Coast FC head coach Sam Saif as the deciding factor in his choice to join the club, having played under Saif at Mitchelton FC. “I wish I could have come in earlier in the season, Sam was a big part of my decision to come to the Coast,” he said. “You just need to look at Sam’s teams; he brings out the best in his players and makes them work at 100 percent.” Jeskey has been training with Sunshine Coast FC for the several weeks while awaiting visa clearance and has taken the time to get a feel for the team. “Everyone has been very helping and welcoming, the past couple of games have been very good to watch and the team has been getting better each week,” Jeskey concluded.
