It also positioned the first-term Democrat as the first openly gay executive in the state, and the highest elected official in Indiana to come out. “From my perspective … Pete is the same exact guy today as he was yesterday,” Jason Critchlow, chair of the St. Joseph County Democratic Party, said. “We supported him yesterday and we support him today.” “I sent the mayor a note saying I’m in support of him,” Common Council President Tim Scott, D-District 1, said. “I’m glad he’s able to be who he is, and to me it doesn’t affect the city or change the fact that we have work to do in the city.” Both men described Buttigieg’s decision to come out as “courageous” in light of still- evolving views on homosexuality. “Unfortunately, in this overcomplicated world, there can be ramifications for that,” Scott said. “Unfortunately, there are some people that might think of it as a negative.” Council member Derek Dieter, D-at large, said he felt the announcement would not impact council’s ability to work with the mayor.

Number 1400075 Interstate 465 (I-465) and I-69/Binford Boulevard (a.k.a. “Clear Path 465”) Indianapolis, Indiana The approved Environmental Assessment (EA) was released for public involvement by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on September 23, 2020. A virtual public information meeting was held on October 13, 2020 and an in-person public hearing was held on October 14, 2020. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) proposes to modify the I-465/I-69 interchange and add Interstate travel lanes in the northeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana. The project, also known as “Clear Path 465”, will improve traffic congestion and correct safety and operational problems. The Clear Path 465 project begins along I-465 approximately 2.4 miles west of I-69 at the White River Bridge, continues through the I-69 interchange, and terminates approximately 2.2 miles south of I-69 at the I-465 bridge over Fall Creek Road. Southwest of the I-465/I- 69 interchange, the project begins on Binford Boulevard approximately 0.8 mile south of 75th Street and extends northeast along Binford Boulevard and I-69, terminating approximately 1.4 miles northeast of the I-465/I-69 interchange. The project includes the following interchanges: the I-465/Allisonville Road interchange, the I-465/I-69 interchange, and the I-69/82nd Street interchange. As I write this, it occurs to me that our school does, indeed, almost have a life of its own, with the same types of ups and downs that we experience in our individual lives. Another Election for the Record Books in Indiana Indiana Business for Responsive Government (IBRG), the non-partisan political action program of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, scored a very successful general election. 48 of 49 IBRG- endorsed candidates facing opposition were victorious, including Republicans and Democrats. Forty-three (43) additional endorsed candidates did not face general election challenges. Twelve (12) new legislators won with IBRG-endorsements. IBRG was significantly-engaged in support of six (6) top-target challenger and open-seat races, as well as successfully defending twelve (12) pro-economy incumbents seriously challenged with defeat. In one of the most dramatic turn of events in years, Republicans won significant battles for state legislative seats across the state to expand their “quorum-proof majorities.” These victories were particularly surprising to those working for months closely in campaigns and candidates, as Indiana’s public opinion environment on issues and views of incumbents was - right up until Election Day - about as bad an environment for Republicans and incumbents as seen in years. This marks the third election cycle in a row that Republicans have expanded their margins in the Indiana House and Senate. The Republicans won a net two (2) seat gain in the Indiana House of Representatives to achieve a 71-29 margin.
