Stones Private Limited Pre-Feasibility Report 2.0 INTRODUCTIONOFTHEPROJECT/BACKGROUNDINFORMATION 2.1 Identification of Project and Project Proponent R. R. Stones Private Limited is one of India’s premier exporters of natural stone products, with an annual turnover of US $10 million. This Company is Established in 1992 by an experienced geologist, Sri S. Diwakar Reddy and used to produce over 1,00,000 tonnes of hand cut/dressed stone products per annum which were exported to USA and Europe. The company is currently producing about 50,000 MT/annum taking into consideration of market conditions. The company holds quarry leases for Colour Granite, Colour Dimensional Stone useful for cubes & kerbs, Quartz and Feldspar containing abundant deposits in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka States. Their product range includes Feldspar and Quartz in the form of lumps and powder in different mesh sizes; Granite Cobblestones, Cubes, Kerbs , Pavers and special materials. M/s. R.R. Stones Private Limited among others, holds quarry lease for Colour Granite over an extent of 0.675 ha. in Sy. No. 151/3, Koneru Kuppam Village, Santhipuram Mandal, Chittoor District, A.P. 2.2 Brief Description of the Nature of the Project The Quarry lease area of 0.675 Ha., is located in Non-forest, Government Revenue Barren land. Opencast Quarrying is followed and it has been proposed to produce 400 Cum/annum of Colour Granite. The nearest habitation is Chokarbande Village located at a distance of 0.8 Km due NW of Quarry Lease. Koneukuppam village is located at 1.0 km from the quarry lease area. 2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country and or Region The demand for Colour Granite has increased due to rapid industrialization and growth in Landscaping. So the number of Colour Granite producing quarries is increasing in India. Due to bifurcation of State, there is a huge demand for Colour Granite. As per EIA notification, 2006 & MoEF Notification 14.03.2017 project proponent is submitting the proposal for Environment Clearance for the QL area of 0.675 Ha., from MOEF, GOI for the purpose of operating the quarry lease. 2 R.R. Stones Private Limited Pre-Feasibility Report 2.4 Demand –Supply Gap There is huge demand for the material which is used extensively in laying pavements, foot paths, edges of foot paths, platforms, retaining edges and garden periphery. This project will help in reducing the demand-supply gap in the area. 2.5 Domestic/Export Markets The material is used in the domestic as well as export market. 2.6 Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project Proposed mining is by manual method and this project operation will provide livelihood to 8 workers. It will provide indirect employment to 25 persons residing in vicinity. 3.0 PROJECTDESCRIPTION 3.1 Type of Project Including Interlinked and Interdependent Projects, If Any. The proposed project is for quarrying Colour Granite in the Quarry Lease and no interlinked and interdependent projects are associated with this project. 3.2 Location The Quarry lease area is located in Sy. Nos. : 151/3 of Koneru Kuppam Village, Santhipuram Mandal, Chittoor District, A.P. The mining lease area falls in Survey of India topo sheet No. 57 L/5. The latitude & longitudes of the Quarry lease area are: GCP LATITUDE LONGITUDE A 12°52'44.6"N 78°19'54.8"E B 12°52'46.0"N 78°19'57.4"E C 12°52'44.7"N 78°19'57.6"E D 12°52'42.5"N 78°19'57.0"E G 12°52'42.1"N 78°19'56.1"E H 12°52'43.3"N 78°19'55.2"E Note : These Co-ordinates were taken in WGS-84 Map datum Location of the mining lease in Chittoor District is shown in Figure – 1. The lessee follows open cast Manual mining. The Mineral production target for five years 3.5 Geology and Reserves 3.5.1 Regional Geological setup The Geological formations in the Chittoor District can broadly be divided in to distinct and wellmarked groups and older group of Metamorphic rocks belonging to Archean and Younger group of Sedimentary rocks belonging to the Proterozoic age the later cover part of Gudipala block. The remaining parts of District are occupied by Archean Rocks which consist of Schist, Gneisses, Quartz veins and basic dykes. The Archean rocks have suffered considerable degree of tectonic disturbances, as a result of which the rocks have been metamorphosed and recrystallized. Stratigraphic Sequences established in the area is as follows:- Geological age Lithology Recent Alluvium Pleistocene Laterite -----------------------------------Unconformity--------------------------------------------- Younger intrusive epitode veins, Quartz Veins and reefs Pegmatite’s Veins of Alkali Feldspar granite and syenite Dolerite/Gabbro/Basalt Dykes Leuco Granite Nebulitic to homophonous biotite Granite Peninsular gneissic Complex Nebulitic to homophonous 7 (Migmatite group) Hornblende granite and Leuco Hornblende Granite Archean Biotite granite gneiss, Hornblende Granite Gneiss, Porphyritic Hornblende Granite R.R. Stones Private Limited Pre-Feasibility Report 3.5.2 Local Geology The Subject QL area is to a hillock with a height of 6-8m from the adjacent ground, gently sloping towards North direction. The QL area is exposed with Light Grey and Green Colour Granite Boulders. It does not contain Sheet Rock. The peninsular gneissic complex comprises gneisses (migmatite), gray granite, and Green Granite and Gneissic granite. The gneiss in general show banding due to alteration of light colored quartzo- feldspathic minerals and dark colored biotite or hornblende minerals. These rocks may be separated in to two distinct groups namely the massive foliated types occur as low dome shaped hillocks. The intrusive relationship of the granite rock is evident by the presence of tongues and apophyges within the older rocks and the occurrence of xenoliths of the older-rocks within the granite. 3.5.3 Exploration a) Present Status: There is a small developed pit in southern portion of the Q.L. area. From out of 0.675 Hect of lease i.e., 6750 Sq.mts an area of 1860 Sq.Mts. is allocated for dumping waste. Earller when the area was worked this space was used for dumping waste. This area is located on the N.E side within the lease. Therefore the balance area now available is 4890 Sq.Mts. The Buffer area around this land is (182 x 7.5) 1365 Sq.Mts. Thus the actual operable area is 3525 Sq.Mts. The company will like to produce their requirement from the exposed boulders. The marketable blocks recovered from this area during Q.L. period of last 11 years furnished in Table-1. Table-1 RECOVERY OF DIMENSIONAL BLOCKS RECOVERED DURING QL PERIOD Sl.no Year Cub. Since boulders are exposed, the block size can be assessed. another criteria to the boulder is its colour. This company has popularized one particular shade in grey colour available in this area.
