Perth and Peel Covid-19 Restrictions from 27 April 2021 PUBLIC NOTICE - COVID-19 PERTH AND PEEL COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS FROM 27 APRIL 2021 This notice applies to the Supreme Court of Western Australia (including the Court of Appeal), the District Court of Western Australia, the Family Court of Western Australia, the Magistrates Court of Western Australia, the Children's Court of Western Australia, the Coroner's Court of Western Australia and the State Administrative Tribunal. It is made with the authority of the head of each jurisdiction. During the period announced by the Government of Western Australia for the Perth and Peel regions (the affected regions) for the period from 27 April 2021 to 30 April 2021, the following general directions apply in relation to court and tribunal hearings: 1. All trials and in-person hearings (including jury trials and mediations) listed to commence or continue on or after 27 April 2021 in the affected regions will proceed as listed, unless alternative arrangements are expressly made for them to be vacated or to proceed remotely. 2. All persons attending courts and tribunals must wear masks at all times, including in courtrooms, hearing rooms and mediation rooms, unless expressly provided for in the Safe Transition For Western Australia Directions (No 2). The requirement to wear a mask applies to judicial officers, court staff, counsel, jurors and members of the public. 3. Exceptions to the wearing of masks may apply in some circumstances during the course of hearings or mediations. The application of those exceptions will be determined by the judicial officer presiding at each hearing. 4. In addition to the modifications made to the layout of courtrooms to enable social distancing, a variety of other public health measures will continue to 2 apply, including an enhanced cleaning regime and control over direction of movement. 5. Court and tribunal users should also refer to the website of each individual court or tribunal for further information as to any particular arrangements applicable to that court or tribunal. In 2014, OPH became the first hospital in Australia and the second hospital outside of the United States to earn the Pathway credential. The achievement led to several significant quality and safety improvements. A nurse-driven hand hygiene compliance campaign focused on improving the hospital’s handwashing rate over a two-year period. Strategies included staff education, a new jewelry and nail policy, regular updates via newsletter, notice boards and competitions, and targeting staff groups with low compliance rates. As a result, the hospital’s hand hygiene compliance rate improved from 55% to more than 88%, significantly above the Australian national average of 72%. OPH is regularly among the top-performing hospitals in WA for hand hygiene and recently received the WA Health Award in the Performance Improvement Category.

The City is aware that the Select Committee will have received submissions from the Western Australian Local Government Association and the Growth Areas Alliance Perth and Peel, and these are both comprehensive. The City wishes to draw the Select Committee’s attention to specific issues that are relevant to Rockingham and its community. Background City of Rockingham is a local government with a rapidly developing residential area, supplemented by industrial and commercial areas, and a naval facility on Garden Island. The City encompasses a total land area of approximately 260 square kilometres, including significant areas of coastline and parkland. As with other outer metropolitan growth local governments, Rockingham has and continues to experience substantial population growth, with the resident population growing 22% between 2011 (109,415) and 2018 (133,389).
