Play begins on Stadium Court with 18-year-old Russian wild card Andrey Rublev meeting Indian No. 3 Somdev Devvarman. Rublev is making his Chennai debut, while Devvarman qualified to secure his spot in the Chennai main draw for the seventh time in eight years. The 30-year-old, who grew up near Chennai, debuted at his hometown tournament in 2009, defeating Carlos Moya and Ivo Karlovic before losing to Marin Cilic in the final. The winner of Rublev vs. Devvarman advances to face No. 1 seed Stan Wawrinka. In the second match on Stadium Court, 21-year-old Chennai native Ramkumar Ramanathan takes on Spanish veteran Daniel Gimeno-Traver for the right to meet No. 2 seed Kevin Anderson in the second round. Play on Stadium Court finishes with a marquee doubles match pitting No. 2 seeds Leander Paes and Marcel Granollers against Wawrinka and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. The six- time champion Paes is playing doubles in Chennai for the 16th time. Granollers became his 100th partner on the ATP World Tour and ATP Challenger Tour when they reached the Nottingham quarter-finals last June. Wawrinka and Garcia-Lopez have not teamed since Monte-Carlo in 2010. Garcia-Lopez will also be in singles action on Tuesday. The No. 5 seed begins play on Court 1 against Taro Daniel, a 22-year-old from Japan who cracked the Top 100 following a 39-15 campaign on the ATP Challenger Tour. In other Court 1 matches, No. 6 seed Gilles Muller meets 19-year-old Russian wild card Karen Khachanov and No. 7 seed Vasek Pospisil takes on Aljaz Bedene, who won seven matches to reach the 2015 Chennai final as a qualifier (l. to Wawrinka).
