The current work to take every root out of Addison Oaks is making that trail very boring. Some trails need to be kept natural and not flowy.

7 Don’t nerf the trails!!! Please don’t remove rocks and roots unless it’s erosion control. Don’t 2/7/2020 8:11 AM tailor to the lowest denominator of rider. Keep some trails harder please.

# RESPONSES DATE 1 Do my job for me so I can ride more. I don't get involved in a lot, but I'm always aware of the 2/9/2020 8:43 PM opportunities to do so, mainly via CRAMBA emails.

2 Get more members involved in trail work including adding more challenging and/or new school 2/9/2020 10:28 AM trails

3 I'd like to see some real mtb trails in Genesee County. This organization has taken on more 2/9/2020 9:20 AM trails close to this area but this area doesn't get the true attention of CRAMBA and many people in Genesee county ride the trails you club sponsors. It would be great to have a flow trail on this side of the state that is similar to DTE.

14 I'd love to see more trails, but I know that CRAMBA is working it and I know that in order to do 2/7/2020 8:19 AM things correctly there are a number of groups to interact with and plan.

15 Provide beginner support. Also spread positivity. 2/7/2020 8:19 AM

16 Host more events such as Ay Cramba. Non race events that draw a large number of people. 2/7/2020 8:13 AM

17 I think our trails are good, but after riding once or twice they tend to get boring because of: 1. 2/5/2020 1:46 PM single direction, could enhance the trails by doing clockwise and counter clock days. 2. lack of features. We get some naturally formed featured, a few berms here and there, but there isn't a focus on fun features. We even had the jump at the bottom of RB steep grade torn down after like a month. And that was a really cool feature. Make it a better jump and landing and just offer and alternate paths for people that don't want to jump it. Don't remove the few fun things we get. Also I think communicate trail conditions better. Either post on the site more frequently or just better/more channels. People are destroying the trails on the first muddy day, and then it's ruined for weeks. Especially in winter time when we have more mud than snow. Only using facebook is a bad way, no everyone wants facebook. Could do a feed and allow public input on the website, and also use twitter in addition to FB.

18 Paved at riverbends. More trail more dirt features, berms, rollers that can be 2/5/2020 11:45 AM doubled.

31 Only thing I can think of is more education on trail courtesy, etiquette, and when people should 1/31/2020 9:38 AM ride/conditions. I am a member of SE trail conditions and I have noticed when new people try to help- a portion of the community bashes them if they dont know and people can really put people down. It can get rather toxic in that group to the point I barely check it --again most are great but there are a select few that really can get down on people if they post a condition they rode on- or someone will post ruts just to bash people that rode it-

There are so many other ideas like small easy to build pump tracks at trailheads (think Noquemanon South Trails Trailhead) to capture interest in Mountain Biking from people passing by, simple flow lines in existing trails (I'm not talking huge doubles, I mean simple) to give riders ways to improve skills

and maybe have some fun and clear signage for hard or easy routes with definition that is universal like ski hill designation. 85 With the Stony redevelopment, increased grooming, the Addison Race, and other efforts, I'd 1/30/2020 12:44 PM say the volunteer CRAMBA group is kicking ass! The board supports trails all over a large region. I'd like to see some modernization/reroutes/fixes of some of the heritage trails (Holdridge, Seven Lakes, others), but that's unlikely to go over with some TCs and the idiotic "dumbing down" wannabee hardcore riders. # RESPONSES DATE 1 The survey is a good thing to do to get a feel of users needs, thanks! 2/9/2020 10:33 AM

2 If you allow assisted on a trail you are opening up a can of worms that could lead to 2/9/2020 9:27 AM motorcycles and other motorized vehicles entering the trail system.

3 Nice survey! 2/7/2020 8:21 PM

4 Asphalt pumptracks are a waste of money. Poorly designed and it's a total waste. I've ridden 2/7/2020 7:17 PM them, it's not a plus. Not to mention they are tire specific, dirt tires DO NOT perform well on asphalt tracks. Given the PROPER TOOLS and MATERIALS a dirt pumptrack is the way to go, can be reshaped and fixed as needed. Same goes for wood, your not Rays. If you want help building a pumptrack call me, would love to see a real effort put into one. Unlike the halfassed efforts in the past. Ebikes are only getting bigger and faster. Shops are sending inexperienced riders out to the trails on what is becoming a motorcycle. They don't belong in our setting, maybe out in the open deserts or on the road but not on our type of trails or busy bikepaths. And the whole disabled excuse is absolute bullshit, one out of a thousand ebikers might be disabled, have yet to meet one.

5 Keep up the good work! 2/7/2020 12:38 PM

6 no go on the pump track, yes on ebikes on the same trails. build more single tracks, invest in 2/7/2020 11:38 AM existing single and double tracks, better signage/directions in all parks

7 Thank you for your service 2/7/2020 10:57 AM

8 Love that you are involved up in Lapeer County with trail development. Wish they could build 2/7/2020 10:15 AM single track through the state game area.

9 I dislike the attitude mountain bikers have towards runners, hikers, beginner riders. The 2/7/2020 9:31 AM comments they leave on social media is so arrogant and not enough is said to disparage them. We need to all share the trails and not feel like anyone is superior to anyone else.

10 I appreciate all the hard work, volunteer hours and patience put in by all the CRAMBA staff. 2/7/2020 8:27 AM Thank you! As for ebikes - I have bikes and have ridden them my entire life. Things with motors the manufacturers and riders always want them to go faster, be more capable. This will be true for ebikes as well. It's a slippery slope to allow them now and try to ban them later as they progress. It also seems a contradiction to worry so much about trail erosion and damage and allow motorized vehicles on the trails. All that said, I do think it is fun to see someone with a disability who could not normally ride a trail have a true "mountain bike experience" and watch their joy. Tricky topic to be sure.

11 The ebike questions need more options for answers. I am aware that most trails are non- 2/7/2020 8:27 AM motorized, but with the ebike wave coming think it would be good to talk to landowners. Not just one sided talks but the real opinions based on the fact people will most likely be out there. What to do for reporting and other things. Potentially a large issue and it is not clear at all at this point.

12 No. 2/7/2020 8:15 AM

13 On the dog issue. Our dogs are very well trained. They sit and dont move until released - 2/7/2020 8:08 AM therefore leash is not an issue. Dog's that are not well trained should be on a leash or not allowed on the trail.

14 we as bikers have a lot of responsibility to share the trails, be nice and welcoming to everyone 2/5/2020 1:53 PM else. And I hope at least most of us do that. However I think some education for hikers, and ESPECIALLY joggers/runners that use the trail is required. These are all shared trails and we all need to understand how to use them properly no matter the mode of use. Perhaps some foot traffic specific signage and "rules" posted would be nice as well. Same for biking. Grand rapids does this well on their trails, very visible and breaks down the use type and how to behave.

15 Loose dogs on the trail is a problem. I have nearly ran over dogs multiple times. Dog shit on the 2/5/2020 11:52 AM trail is a problem! I have never seen someone pick up dog shit when they are in the trails. They assume it disappears overnight? Health hazard to have it around and danger to hit an unleashed dog is real.

16 THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND THOUGHTFULNESS!!! 2/4/2020 12:50 PM

53 / 68 CRAMBA 2020 Trail User Survey

17 Get Sheldon trails done ASAP. That trail system is horrible right now as needs love 2/3/2020 12:33 PM

18 E-bikes would allow even more people to access the trails and would detract from many of the 2/1/2020 9:17 PM reasons I ride the trails. I ride to get away from modern lifestyles. I think e bikes are destructive to trails. Although they can be made to be acceptable for trail use there always ends up being abuse.

19 Regarding eBikes This adds speed. People get beyond their skill level when human powered. 2/1/2020 5:21 PM Human powered mountain biking has the advantage of slowing people down, preventing unnecessary damage to the trail and injury on the trail.

24 We really need better signage on trails when they are a one way! I’ve almost had head-on 1/31/2020 10:31 AM collisions a couple times

25 As far as E-bikes go- i think it is great for people that are unable to ride a regular bike enjoy the 1/31/2020 9:42 AM trails-

26 On dogs. I only take mine went on the Muni and Fat tire (snow Ice) when my speeds are lower 1/31/2020 9:36 AM and during low volume times (retired so during workdays/times). She runs in front of me and knows the basic musher (dog ) commands so I can always see her and is 100% under control so not chasing animals, getting in others way etc. This is how an unleashed dog should be in case another rider comes along. 32 Keep it up! I'm looking forward to trail days this year, Massive Fallout, and hope to make it into 1/30/2020 10:42 PM the Classic this year.

33 I encourage cycling, and feel e-Bikes will bring in a larger audience that would otherwise not be 1/30/2020 10:13 PM accessible due to issues such as age or surgery. If they do well, maybe such users will convert into a conventional cyclist over time as their strength and conditioning improve.

34 Re: eBikes - I had a very good experience at Outerbike in NWA with eBikes. They are part of 1/30/2020 9:49 PM the community and embraced. The biggest problem I see with eBikes is that because they are new to SE MI, other riders aren't familiar with proper etiquette. There's also a bit of ignorance which leads to fear which leads to hate with eBikes. eBikes allow people keep up with their friends, spouses, and enjoy the ride. I don't think I will be purchasing an eBike anytime soon, but I fully support eBikes provided that the riders on them are courteous and have proper trail etiquette.

35 Keep up the good work - much appreciated 1/30/2020 9:40 PM

45 Love the pump track idea!!! 1/30/2020 6:21 PM

46 Nope. 1/30/2020 6:16 PM

47 I don't have a problem with e-bikes on gravel roads or paved paths, but they don't belong on 1/30/2020 4:45 PM mountain biking and hiking trails. That's crossing the line between non-motorized and motorized transport.

48 There are plenty of trails available for Motorized bikes. Do not let the non-motorized trails 1/30/2020 3:30 PM become motorized trails.

49 Congrats to Brian on being a new dad! 1/30/2020 3:24 PM

50 I just need more dirt jumps and pump tracks 1/30/2020 3:11 PM

51 Get more people riding. Get bike shops to partner up to generate interest. Better ways to share 1/30/2020 3:01 PM and communicate group rides (via social media)

52 It would be nice to not have chapter meetings on group ride nights. For myself if I have to 1/30/2020 2:56 PM choose between riding and sitting in a meeting i'm going to go ride. I think a lot of other riders might feel the same way.

53 need faster movement with all projects 1/30/2020 2:47 PM

54 I'm very conflicted on e-bikes. I think they provide great accessibility to everything we love 1/30/2020 2:13 PM about trail riding to people who may not be capable of riding a regular bike for some reason, but the speeds concern me. I think if they're allowed on trails with other users, they should be tightly regulate on speed to max out at ~15mph with the motor.

55 I think EBikes will be an interesting topic in the upcoming years. As a SCI survivor, I understand 1/30/2020 1:56 PM the need for some to have the assist provided. I would hate to see trails damaged, however, by healthy people simply wanting to 'go faster' than their abilities allow.

56 Be more open to the public on trails you are building and what’s goin on with projects. Haven’t 1/30/2020 1:55 PM heard shit about the stony creek improvement stuff

57 The more options the better! If there are options further north you might have more local 1/30/2020 1:44 PM supporters (myself included) to start volunteering for new trails/parks. Flow trail would be amazing. E-bikes allow access to the sport, and the more people in the sport, the more people will appreciate the out doors. Some trails can't handle them but we should absolutely not ban them outright.

58 I don't think ebikes are that different from regular mountain bikes, so I don't see why they need 1/30/2020 1:42 PM a separate group. I think what we need is education among both groups of our shared goals and how we can more effectively reach our goals as a united front.

59 No 1/30/2020 1:36 PM

60 Some newer trails seem to be built very tight. Without elevation or features these trails can 1/30/2020 1:36 PM seem to drag on. If you keep them fast and flowy I think it would make things more interesting. I'd love to see some more advanced tech trails. I think Stony and its revamp could be a great spot for that. Also thanks for everything and I hope to get more involved in the future. Unfortunately the job I currently have doesnt allow me much free time.

55 / 68 CRAMBA 2020 Trail User Survey

65 As far as the pump track goes, it is a pretty big investment, so putting it in the most densely 1/30/2020 12:51 PM populated area with the highest-use park seems appropriate (something connected to Paint Creek complex?). I don't see it being as important as developing new, professionally built single track, but both can happen (with funding, of course).
