Grand Prix motorcycle racing season PPrreevviioouuss:: 22001122 NNeexxtt:: 22001144 The 2013 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 65th F€d€ration Internationale de Motocyclisme Road racing World Championship season. Jorge Lorenzo started the season as the defending World Champion, while Honda was the defending Manufacturers' Champion. Moto2 champion Marc M•rquez joined the MotoGP grid with Repsol Honda and Moto3 champion Sandro Cortese entered Moto2, with Intact GP. The three championships were each won by Spanish riders, with M•rquez winning in MotoGP, Pol Espargar‚ winning in Moto2, and Maverick Viƒales winning in Moto3. Spanish riders dominated the season overall, with 47 of the 52 races across all classes won by a Spanish rider. Of the five non-Spanish victories, three came from Moto2 championship runner-up Scott Redding, and one each from Moto2 front-runner Mika Kallio € € his first in the class, in the Czech Republic € € and MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi, who took his first premier class victory since 2010 at the Dutch TT. Season summary MotoGP In the premier MotoGP class, Lorenzo, along with Repsol Honda teamam-mates Marc M•rquez and Dani Pedrosa battled it out for most of the season in regards to the championship battle. Lorenzo won the ope ning race of the season in Qatar, before rookie M•rquez became the youngest premier class winner, as he claimed victory in the inaugural Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas. Pedrosa took back-to-back victories at Jerez € € where M•rquez and Lorenzo battled for second place, clashing at the final corner € € and Le Mans, before Lorenzo did likewise at Mugello, and Catalunya; at the former, M•rquez retired from the race after crashing out of second place. At Assen, Lorenzo crashed during free practice and fractured his collarbone, and after emergency surgery and initial reports that he would not take part for the rest of the weekend, he competed in the race and finished fifth. M•rquez and Pedrosa finished second and fourth respectively, as Valentino Rossi took his first race victory since 2010. M•rquez then won the next four races, starting at the Sachsenring, where both Lorenzo and Pedrosa were sidelined with injuries; Lorenzo with a recurrence of his Assen injury after crashing in free practice once again, while Pedrosa was ruled out with low blood pressure, stemming from a separate incident. After two more victories for Lorenzo at Silverstone, and Misano, M•rquez and Pedrosa collided at the Aragon Grand Prix, where a slight touch caused a sensor on Pedrosa's bike to tear and cut the traction control system. M•rquez went on to beat Lorenzo to victory, and after Pedrosa won in Malaysia, M•rquez held a 43-point lead in the championship with three races to go. However, a disqualification in Australia, as well as Lorenzo winning both in Australia and Japan reduced that margin to thirteen, ahead of the final race in Valencia; the first final race title decider since 2006. After battling Pedrosa and Lorenzo in the early stages of the race, M•rquez finished third in the race to become the youngest premier class champion, beating Freddie Spencer's record from 1983. As well as this, M•rquez became the first rookie since Kenny Roberts in 1978 to win the championship in their d€but season, and 15 views 0 0 RELATED TITLES 2013 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season.pdf Uploaded by dzimmer6 Wikipedia article Full description Cat 2009 Ditest #Junkie BBC Top Gear - 22 April 2018 UK Save Embed Share Print 2013 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season Moto2 In Moto2, Pol Espargar‚ became champion in the class, after overhauling Scott Redding towards the end of the season. PRESS INFORMATION MICHELIN COMBAT THE ARAGÓN HEAT AS MARQUEZ TRIUMPHS Michelin witnessed its range of MotoGP™ tyres produce a strong performance during today’s Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón from the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain as the heat rose on raceday before Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) took victory. Temperatures soared to their highest point of the weekend as the riders lined up on the grid, causing many teams to make last minute changes to their chosen selection of MICHELIN Power Slicks, in readiness to combat the heat. As the race began the track thermometer was reading 45°C - higher than it has ever been at the Aragón circuit for a MotoGP event - and following all the changes, five of the six tyre compounds were now featured in different combinations throughout the field. Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) was on pole after an exciting qualifying session on Saturday, which saw him take the first grid spot in the very last moment of the session, unfortunately for the Spaniard his race was short-lived as he crashed out on the first corner. This immediately handed the lead to his team-mate Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), a position he held for the next 13-laps, before coming under pressure from Marquez. The pair then duelled out the remaining 10-laps of the 23-lap race, with the lead frequently changing hands as they pushed the Michelin tyres to the limit on a track that now had diminished grip levels due to the increased heat. Marquez was using a hard front and soft rear pairing, whilst Dovizioso had gone for a hard/hard combination and the two battled it out for the final laps as the characteristics of their respective bikes gave them the opportunity to use different tyres, but still extract maximum performance.

  • Motogp: Jorge Lorenzo Wins the Catalunya GP
Beat: Sports MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo wins the Catalunya GP Catalunya GP Montmelo Bologna Motorvalley Italy , 17.06.2018, 22:56 Time USPA NEWS - Jorge Lorenzo hammers in another superb win at the Catalan GP at Montmeló. Andrea Dovizioso forced to retire after a crash. Two weeks after his Mugello triumph, Jorge Lorenzo today made it two in a row by winning the Catalan GP at the Montmeló circuit. The rider from Mallorca, who started from pole, moved into the lead of the race on lap 2 when he passed Marquez, and then firmly held onto that position right until the chequered flag, finishing over four seconds ahead of his Honda rival. It was an unfortunate race for Andrea Dovizioso, who also started from the front row after going third-quickest in qualifying yesterday. The Italian crashed under braking for Turn 5 when he was in third and had to retire. Lorenzo has now moved up to seventh place in the overall standings on 66 points, followed by Dovizioso with the same haul, while Ducati now lie second overall in the Constructors´ championship with 132 points. The next race of the MotoGP World Championship will be in the Netherlands, in two weeks time, at the Assen circuit for the Dutch TT from 29th June to 1st July. Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team #99) - 1st “Today´s win was really fantastic! We showed that we can win not only by entering the first turn in first place, but also by recovering and overtaking the others. It was actually a complicated race because I got off to a bad start and lost a lot of metres to Marquez, but I told myself that the race was long and I had to keep calm.

The move was made to try to improve safety by reducing cornering speeds, and in a marginal way for cost reasons; the winner was decided by bid.[1] Michelin, one of the two tyre suppliers in 2008, decided not to bid for the supply,[2] effectively declaring Bridgestone the winner, which was confirmed on 18 October 2008.[3] Bridgestone will be the sole tyre supplier from 2009 to 2011. Only race spec tyres will be provided to the teams, eliminating qualifying tyres, in use until 2008.
