Chalice Handbell Team Commitments Christmas 2018. This year we had a very serious thinking session as to whether, with my health problems, we should even offer to take 'Near Christmas' bookings but we were encouraged to do so by a sudden rush of phone calls asking us to visit both previously visited, as well as 'new visit' care homes. As a result we have been quite busy. If anyone would like to give us any other booking dates now or throughout the year, we are open to offers! We do not charge but willingly accept contributions to our chosen charity for the year 2018 Weston Hospice). A cuppa and any other refreshment is always welcome, as are any new recruits after these Christmas bookings. Many of you will already know them from the lovely ‘Tiffin at the Pier’ and ‘Tiffin at the Beach’ in Clevedon where they have built up an excellent reputation for their fabulous food and great customer service over the last few years. If you don’t already know them, you are in for a treat! You can follow this link to their website and press announcement to get your mouth watering in anticipation! https://www.tiffingroup.com/news/launch-the-farm/ We’ll post updates on our website https://www.bullockfarm.co.uk/24/Facilities Coming Soon - Tiffin Café at Bullock Farm Tiffin Group are delighted to announce the latest addition to their unique portfolio of venues, with the opening in mid-March 2019 of ‘Tiffin Café @ Bullock Farm.' Located at Bullock Farm in picturesque Kingston Seymour, this fully licensed 35 seat indoor/40 seat outdoor delightfully located venue, will continue the Tiffin theme of serving locally sourced produce in Tiffin style. It will operate Monday to Sunday daytimes, with later summer evening closing to enjoy that cool glass of white wine or locally produced beer and cider. Nick Wring, Tiffin Group Marketing and Development Director said, ‘Bullock Farm location situated 10 minutes drive from our Clevedon venues with parking for 50 cars makes perfect sense as an alternative destination for our guests. It enables us to continue the popular coffee and cake style offer enjoyed at our Beach venue, while extending the food to serve good farm style cooking utilising all the fabulous regional produce we have sourced for years, all within a few miles radius. Sundays will be all about creating a terrific homestyle roast lunch, and there is the interesting seasonal option to also retail the local veg and produce we use every day. Bullock Farm whose name dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086, is already well known for its top-quality fishing lakes, cottages and campsite and we thank Farm owners Philip and Jude Simmons for working with us on making it possible. We are super excited about creating over time yet another welcoming and unique destination for our guests.’ ‘The Farm’ as it will be fondly known on their web site www.tiffingroup.com will be the 7th addition to the Tiffin Group portfolio, joining ‘The Beach’ and ‘The Pier’ venues in Clevedon, along with their Jersey venues ‘The Museum’, ‘The Brasserie’, ‘The Marina’ and ‘Infusion’. 5 All Saints Flower Guild Thank you so much to all those who helped with the arrangements in and around the Church for Remembrance Weekend. As this is the last magazine of this year, I would like to wish everyone all the joys of Christmas and a Happy, Peaceful New Year. Thank you for all your support over the last year. Sue Hyde, Chairman Christmas is coming….. …… and it’s now frighteningly close! There’s little we can do to help you with most of the hard work to come but that wonderful tradition, the Kingston Seymour Christmas Post, can help with the delivery of all the cards you’re sending to other people in the village. The poster on the back of this magazine has all the details. Please don’t forget to put a little more than a name on the envelope, an address is required! Judy and Robin do a marvellous job sorting all the cards and delivering many of them themselves. With typically more than two thousand of them, however, they can’t do it all unaided. We have some help lined up with the sorting, but they’d be very grateful for volunteers to deliver 6 some of the cards around the village. Please call them on 832612 if you can help – even if it’s just a few near your own home. If you are not able to make it on the day please call this number as they are delighted to have some of them in advance – to reduce the chances of being buried in an avalanche of cards on the day! Have a great Christmas. Graham Daniel A note from Mike Wallis........ On the 14th November 2018, I tendered my resignation as a member of the Kingston Seymour Parish Council. I have represented the village on the parish council for over ten years and joined because I felt it was important to have a representative on the council with a rural background. I have lived and worked in the village all of my life, and I believe that I am probably the least travelled outside the village, however I am surely the most travelled in the village. The reasons for my resignation are as follows: North Somerset Council was invited to draw up a road safety plan in response to villagers concerns regarding speeding traffic in the village area. In this plan there were a number of road markings to be placed in the most rural parts of the village where there is very little traffic, and this included six ‘slow’ markings. I gave these some thought and then I realised that they were all along the proposed Weston to Clevedon Cycle Way. In my view North Somerset Council were using the road safety plan for their own benefit. I attended a council meeting at which only four of the seven councillors were present. The councillors voted in favour of the plan which will cost in excess of £4,800 and this will be financed by the parish, with no contribution from North Somerset Council. It was at this point that I resigned and further reasons are below.
