Redbridge Institute Supporting our learners by helping them to reach their potential is a large part of what we do. One way learners’ we do this is by giving our arts and crafts learners an opportunity to showcase their work at the Local Makers pop-up Market in Wanstead. This gives our learners a chance to not only sell their gallery items, but gain experience in how to market their items, gain feedback on what works well for them and gives them confidence in their skills and designs. If you are a learner interested in exhibiting in future Makers Markets speak to your tutor.

Learner journey I started on a bookkeeping level 1 course which helped me with my organisational skills and home finances. I really enjoyed that so I progressed on to the next level and also did a Sage level 2 and Business Administration course to help me with my job applications as most of my experience was sports related. I also completed a short Healthy Living course at the Institute. This gave me the kick start I needed to start applying for jobs. I gained a volunteer post, thanks to the Working in Mind project, as a Disability Sports Coach which has now turned into an employed role. Since starting as a Disability Sports Coach I have also completed a Counselling course which has helped me a lot with communication and fits really well with my current role. I also attended the Employability Hub and had a session with the National Careers Service adviser which was really helpful with applying for sports related roles, writing personal statements, covering letters and understanding how to project myself at an interview. I now have a job I love in a sector that I really enjoy. Omar Sheriff Business and administration
