Once upon a time I was traveling over the west­ ern hills of Wyoming where I sited smoke with the aroma of hickory through the air. I circled around and noticed the old timer smoking strips of beef over his hickory flaming coals. I stopped to investi­ gate his unique flair and thus discovered the now famous beef jerky of Kershenstine's.
