Inspired by international products in categories such as jewelry, couture clothing and architecture, High Gear is meant to stimulate the senses by fusing luxury and power. Highlights include rose-gold chrome accents throughout the exterior and interior; satin-black body; plush, quilted suede seats and a leather-wrapped interior. Modifications have also been made to the engine, undercarriage, drivetrain and sound system.

The Ford Model A Roadster Pickup, essentially a convertible cab with a pickup truck bed, was an unusual low production variation of the classic Ford Model A. This example, sponsored by Model A Times Magazine, was conceived to look as original as possible but with the added safety of modern performance enhancements and options making it fit for today’s driving experience.

The timeless Ford Model A Roadster convertible cab and pickup bed are finished in Ford Bordeaux Reserve Metallic paint accented by contrasting black fenders. Modern safety enhancements include reproduction headlamps with halogen driving bulbs and reproduction LED taillights. The folding convertible top, leather seats with heated seat element, and interior were fabricated to balance a vintage look with modern comfort and convenience.

The original 205 cubic inch, four-cylinder engine fitted with a high compression Winfield head, Weber downdraft carburetor, custom electrical system, and original style pressurized radiator equipped with electric fan. The engine’s 80-horsepower flows through a modern Ford four-speed overdrive automatic transmission with B&M shifter. Chassis enhancements include an upgraded hydraulic brake system and Ford limited slip rear end. Original Ford 19-inch wheels ride on modern Coker Tire Excelsior Radial tires.

This Ford Model A Roadster Pickup recreation truly combines the visual appeal and grace of a classic vintage car with today’s driveability and comfort.

The 2013 NASCAR Fusion is bringing “stock” back to stock car racing!

Thanks to intense collaboration between Ford Racing engineers and the Design Center staff at Ford Motor Co., race fans will be able to relate once again with the cars they see on the track. An increase in brand identity for 2013 means the NASCAR Fusion looks identical to the production model.

Featuring a completely redesigned sleek silhouette and fresh face, the 2013 Fusion Sprint Cup car was designed to be the face of a new era of stock car racing.

This marks the third time Ford has simultaneously launched production and NASCAR versions of a new model. The first dual launch came in 1968 with the sleek fastback Ford Torino. Legendary NASCAR driver David Pearson drove the Torino to back-to-back NASCAR championships in 1968 and 1969. The second time came in 2006 when the then newly-introduced Ford Fusion appeared in showrooms and on the track.

The all-new 2013 NASCAR Fusion will make its official debut in February during Speedweek at Daytona International Speedway. Its first points race will be the season-opening Daytona 500 on Feb. 24.

SO-CAL Indy Speedster by SO-CAL Speed Shop

This SO-CAL Indy Speedster, the 2012 Grand National Speedster Show “America’s Most Beautiful Speedster” (AMBR) winner, is a stunning tribute to the great Indy Speedsters of the past.

Originally built by racecar builder and racer Jack Howerton, the 1927 Ford Speedster was purchased in 2007 by Bill Lindig and entrusted to SO-CAL Speed Shop for restoration, customization and final build. SO-CAL worked on it for four years, massaging every detail until there was almost nothing on the car that hadn’t been redesigned or custom-designed. The level of detail on the car is astounding, something all 11 AMBR judges agreed on.

Dressed in brilliant Iradium Silver PPG Mercedes-Benz paint, the look is minimalistic yet with literally thousands of finely-crafted individual components. It is this more-by-less appearance that gives the AMBR-winning SO-CAL Indy Speedster its timeless beauty.

SO-CAL Belly Tanker by SO-CAL Speed Shop

Belly tank racers have been called “open-wheeled raindrops” and “soapbox racers on steroids,” and for good reason. This aerodynamic, no-frills racing machine made from the belly fuel tank of a World War II military aircraft with an unblown 1947 Mercury 296 cubic inch flathead V-8 set a one-way speed record of 198.34 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

This legendary SO-CAL Belly Tanker’s first outing was at El Mirage dry lake in the spring of 1948. With a Ford Model T frame, a rear-mounted V8-60 flathead, and forward cockpit fitted with an aircraft-style seat, this bomb- sized road rocket set a Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) “Streamliner” class record of 140.155 mph.

In 1951 at the Bonneville Salt Flats, running in a newly created SCTA “Lakester” class, the SO-CAL Speed Shop team used a V8-60 to set a class record of 145.395. They then swapped out the V8-60 for a larger 259-inch Mercury and set another class record of 181.085. They then put in a 296-inch Mercury flathead and set yet another class record of 195.77 and one-way speed record of 198.34 mph. The one-way speed still stands as the fastest speed ever achieved by a normally-aspirated, flathead-powered car.

At the 1952 Bonneville Speedweek, this SO-CAL Belly Tanker was voted the “Most Honored Car in the History of Bonneville.”

This 3.5L EcoBoost V6-powered Ford F-150 Off-Road Racer recently captured twin Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) Championships – the 2012 VORRA Championship and 2012 Class “T” (Modified Trucks) Championship. VORRA Class T includes outstanding racers, race teams and vehicles, many running deep-breathing V8 race engines.

A previous VORRA overall and class points leader, as well as a BITD 7200 Class Championship in a Ford truck in 2006 and 2007, LaRoza has tested and proven the strength, durability and reliability of the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and Ford F-150 Off-Road Racer on challenging short tracks as well as expansive Best In The Desert (BITD) routes which include daring narrow canyons, massive dry lake beds and some of the toughest, most varied terrain in the world.

The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 truck engine incorporates three advanced technologies: gasoline direct-injection, twin-turbocharging and advanced engine control. LaRoza worked with Ford Racing performance engineers, who completed the project using the Life Racing F-88 GDI engine management system. And while most off-road truck teams compete in only one series and enter only a few one-off races due to expense and engine upkeep, the EcoBoost truck engine’s proven reliability and low maintenance requirement enable LaRoza to compete in both VORRA and BITD competition. The taut F-150 body is also about four inches shorter than the typical BITD trophy truck.
