Cincinnati Reds Press Clippings May 25, 2017 THIS DAY IN REDS HISTORY 2011-The 19-inning game at Philadelphia lasts 6 hours, 11 minutes, setting a club record MLB.COM Vroom when it happens: Hamilton's huge run By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com | @m_sheldon | 2:46 AM ET + 9 COMMENTS CLEVELAND -- Just a few minutes earlier, the fireworks had burst and the music had blared as the Indians were celebrating what they thought was a one-run win over the Reds on a rainy Wednesday night at Progressive Field. But the only sound Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton could hear was the wind whistling in his ears as he blazed around the bases to score the game-winning run in an improbable 4-3 victory over the Indians. They say speed kills. On this night, it certainly killed the Indians. Twice the Indians had a chance to end the game and twice Hamilton said "not so fast." With men on first and second with one out in the ninth, Hamilton appeared to hit into a stellar 3-6-3 double play that closed with a bang-bang play at first to end the game. But Reds manager Bryan Price challenged the out call at first as the Indians gathered to celebrate their win, and the call was overturned. That left Hamilton at first and pinch-runner Arismendy Alcantara on third, with two outs and shortstop Zack Cozart at the plate facing Tribe closer Cody Allen, who had not blown a save all season. Allen threw Cozart a 1-0 fastball that was lined hard into short left field.

Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman and Daniel Murphy -- the middle of the lineup -- led that charge with three of the Top 5 batting averages in the NL. Washington will look to continue that offensive production in the second half as their five All-Stars return Friday night to begin a four-game set against the Reds at Great American Ball Park. The Nats took two out of three from Cincinnati when the teams met in June, but Zack Cozart, one the Reds' two All-Stars, didn't play due to a quadriceps injury. The teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum in their respective divisions. The Nationals are looking to maintain their sizeable lead in the NL East, while the Reds enter the second half fighting to get out of last place in the NL Central. Cincinnati will start Tim Adleman, while Washington will send left-hander Gio Gonzalez to the mound.

Cincinnati Reds Press Clippings December 18, 2012 CINCINNATI ENQUIRER Report: Former Red Frank Pastore passes away By dclark | 12/17/2012 Former Reds pitcher Frank Pastore passed away Monday afternoon, according to a message on the website of Christian radio station KKLA, his employer. The message reads as follows: Dear Listeners: As many of you are aware, Frank Pastore was in a motorcycle accident Monday night, 11/19. Gina Pastore informed us that in the early afternoon of Monday, December 17, Frank passed away. We will update you with any additional information as soon as it is available. Please continue to pray for Gina and the family. Blessings to you, KKLA Management Hollywoodreporter.com also posted Monday night that just three hours prior to his Nov. 19 accident, Pastore spoke of the dangers associated with his penchant for motorcycles. “Look, you guys know I ride a motorcycle, right?” Pastore asked his audience three hours before he collided with a car as he rode down the 210 freeway near Los Angeles. “So, at any moment, especially with the idiot people who cross the diamond lane into my lane, all right, without any blinkers – not that I’m angry about it – at any minute I could be spread all over the 210. But that’s (just) my body part, and that key distinction undergirds the entire Christian worldview.” The Christian radio personality and former pitcher for the Reds was in critical condition and in a coma four weeks ago following a motorcycle crash in California, family members and officials told the Whittier Daily News.

This handbook serves as an updated version of the previous Handbook of the Ohio Village Muffins and Lady Diamonds published by the 1999 Muffins/Diamonds Advisory Board and prepared by Ohio Historical Society volunteers and staff, including Don Andersen, Dale Brandon, Larry Friedman, Richard Schuricht, Andy Shuman, Doug Smith, and John Wells. Cover of the 1999 Handbook The 2016 Advisory Board was comprised of Jim Kimnach, Team Manager; Dale Brandon; Jackie Forquer, Diamonds Team Manager; Curt Green; John Francis; Tom Della Flora; Frank Thompson; Mike Purcell; Joel Moore; Aaron Seddon; Jennifer Bell; Susan Brouillette, OHC liaison to the Muffins/Diamonds; and consultant Jim Tootle. The Advisory Board In November of 1996 the first Muffins/Diamonds Advisory Board was formed. Its purpose is to provide volunteer leadership within the program. Meetings of the board are generally held once a month or as needed. The team manager usually oversees the meetings. Appropriate initiatives or changes within the program are decided upon by the Advisory Board. Members of the board are elected for two year terms, and members may run for reelection. Any OHC volunteer who has been in the Muffins/Diamonds program for one playing season may run for the Advisory Board. As of 1997 it was decided that the Diamonds must always be represented with at least one elected member of the Advisory Board.
