Fox Sports Presents New Six-Part Docu-Series Examining Lowest Level of Professional Baseball FOX SPORTS PRESENTS NEW SIX-PART DOCU-SERIES EXAMINING LOWEST LEVEL OF PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL “The Pecos League” Follows the Struggles and Triumphs of Baseball Players Chasing a Dream Latest Entry from FOX Sports Originals Debuts Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1 :30 Promo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8ZoVBByy6A Extended Promo 1: http://youtu.be/x8GbsPRsvdk Extended Promo 2: http://youtu.be/MGmTFxSTC6E ***To view an episode of “The Pecos League” under embargo, contact Emily Parker at [email protected]*** The Pecos League: Last Chance for Some, Only Chance for Others Every kid in America dreams of playing in the Major Leagues, but few ever dreamed of playing in The Pecos League. The Pecos League is made up of eight gritty and proud independent professional baseball teams stretching across New Mexico, Colorado, and West Texas. Far removed from the glamorous life of Major League Baseball, Pecos League players are given a jersey, a hat, and $50 a week to help them keep their dreams alive of playing professional baseball. These athletes play for the love of the game and because they know it could be their only chance to be noticed by a scout. - more - THE PECOS LEAGUE – Page 2 “The Pecos League” Debuts on FOX Sports 1 on May 13 at 9:30 PM ET FOX Sports Originals gives viewers a front row seat to the wild, tough, and rewarding life in the lowest level of professional baseball with “The Pecos League.” The series will air for six consecutive Tuesdays starting May 13 at 9:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1. Cameras follow second-year franchise the Trinidad Triggers as the team plays 70 games in 72 days in its quest for a Pecos League championship. In addition to getting to know the players, viewers meet their Harvard-educated manager and a collection of colorful and loyal locals who provide an interesting peek at life in tiny towns across the rugged and burnt baseball landscape of the Southwest. What the Producers are Saying “Anyone who has ever chased a dream can relate to “The Pecos League” and the sacrifices these players are making. In one of the most unlikely towns in the country, these ball players refuse to give up on their goal of someday playing in the Majors. It’s all here – the best parts of sports: friendship, fun, achievement, and pure love of the game.” – Michael Bloom, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, FOX Sports ““The Pecos League” is like “Field of Dreams” meets “Jackass”, but 100% original. Viewers get an unfiltered look at life on the fringes of professional baseball, as these Major League hopefuls play for their last chance at glory.” – Rasha Drachkovitch, President of 44 Blue Productions “The Pecos League” is co-produced by 44 Blue Productions, producers of the hit reality series “Wahlburgers,” and FOX Sports Originals, with executive producers Rasha Drachkovitch and Andrew Fried, co-executive producer John Henion, and supervising producer Michael Schenker. What the Players and Manager are Saying “It’s such a hard sport to climb the ladder in. There’s so many guys that get unnoticed. It’s so easy to fall through the cracks. But how are you going to know if you don’t go after it? There’s always a chance. It’s a small chance, so I plan on going until the wheels absolutely fall off.” – Trinidad Triggers outfielder Sam DiMatteo “This is kind of the last shot for everyone who wants to play pro ball. Even though we make $50 a week, we don’t do it for that. We do it because this game is amazing and we love each other.” – Trinidad Triggers pitcher Tony Smith “It can be very grueling. We’re going to play 70 games in 72 days. I see what sacrifices players make and you’d be surprised how much, even at this level, they want to win.” – Trinidad Triggers manager JD Droddy “If the MLB is the Big Show, the Pecos League is the Sh*t Show. You can put up great stats and still wind up getting traded for a bucket of balls.” – Trinidad Triggers pitcher John Sullivan - more - THE PECOS LEAGUE – Page 3 “The Pecos League” Schedule on FOX Sports 1 Date Time Tuesday, May 13 9:30 PM ET Tuesday, May 20 9:30 PM ET Tuesday, May 27 9:30 PM ET Tuesday, June 3 9:30 PM ET Tuesday, June 10 9:30 PM ET Tuesday, June 17 9:30 PM ET About FOX Sports Originals FOX Sports Originals gives viewers an all-access look at life off the field and uncovers some of the most fascinating stories in sports. • Challenging ESPN: How Fox Sports Can Play in ESPN's Arena
Challenging ESPN: How Fox Sports can play in ESPN’s Arena Kristopher M. Gundersen May 1, 2014 Professor Richard Linowes – Kogod School of Business University Honors Spring 2014 Gundersen 1 Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship ESPN has with the sports broadcasting industry. The study focuses on future prospects for the industry in relation to ESPN and its most prominent rival Fox Sports. It introduces significant players in the market aside from ESPN and Fox Sports and goes on to analyze the current industry conditions in the United States and abroad. To explore the future conditions for the market, the main method used was a SWOT analysis juxtaposing ESPN and Fox Sports. Ultimately, the study found that ESPN is primed to maintain its monopoly on the market for many years to come but Fox Sports is positioned well to compete with the industry behemoth down the road. In order to position itself alongside ESPN as a sports broadcasting power, Fox Sports needs to adjust its time horizon, improve its bids for broadcast rights, focus on the personalities of its shows, and partner with current popular athletes. Additionally, because Fox Sports has such a strong regional persona and presence outside of sports, it should leverage the relationship it has with those viewers to power its national network. Gundersen 2 Introduction The world of sports is a fast-paced and exciting one that attracts fanatics from all over. They are attracted to specific sports as a whole, teams within a sport, and traditions that go along with each sport.

  • Hulu Rsns FINAL
SINCLAIR REGIONAL SPORTS NETWORKS DROPPED BY HULU Baltimore, Maryland – October 23, 2020 – Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) reported today that Hulu has decided to drop Sinclair’s 21 regional sports network brands (RSN), YES Network and Marquee, depriving its subscribers of the excitement of watching their favorite local sports teams. While Sinclair attempted to come to an amicable and fair agreement, Hulu was not willing to provide the RSNs reasonable compensation for their valuable local sports content. Starting today, the FOX Regional Sports Networks are no longer available on Hulu and consumers will have to look elsewhere to access the content. Sinclair’s RSNs can be viewed on most major cable platforms as well as DirectTV and AT&T Now. “While we offered Hulu a deal consistent with terms agreed to by other distributors, the streaming service refused to accept these fair and market-based terms,” said Barry Faber, Sinclair’s president of distribution and network relations. “It is unfortunate that Hulu has chosen to take away some of the most popular sports programming on TV from millions of subscribers.” Hulu, owned by Disney, which also owns ESPN, was forced to sell the RSNs by the Department of Justice due to competitive reasons with ESPN. Hulu still carries ESPN and also agreed to carry another of its owner’s content, Comcast RSNs, but is refusing to carry Sinclair RSNs. RSNs that will no longer be offered on Hulu include FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports Ohio, Sports Time Ohio, FOX Sports Detroit, FOX Sports Wisconsin, FOX Sports North, FOX Sports Kansas City, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Indiana, FOX Sports Tennessee, FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports Southeast, FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Florida, FOX Sports Sun, FOX Sports New Orleans, FOX Sports Oklahoma, FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports San Diego, Fox Sports West and Fox Sports Prime Ticket, YES Network, and Marquee.

  • FOX Sports and Nielsen Study, “The 5Th Network,” Finds Regional Sports Networks Are Most Essential Cable Channels to Sports Fans
For Immediate Release December 14, 2016 FOX Sports and Nielsen Study, “The 5th Network,” Finds Regional Sports Networks Are Most Essential Cable Channels to Sports Fans Research commissioned from Nielsen highlights fan preference for RSNs LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports today released the results of “The 5th Network: Regional Sports Network Passion Index,” a Nielsen Media Analytics Primary Research study finding that sports fans rate regional sports networks (RSNs) as their most essential non-broadcast channels. Custom research by Nielsen commissioned by FOX Sports looked at more than 1,500 pay TV subscribers around the country who identify as sports fans, and found that on average respondents rate their RSNs as the fifth most essential channel in their entire television packages, ranking only behind the four broadcast networks. Respondents ranked RSNs as more essential than all cable channels. In certain geographical regions, sports fans ranked their RSNs as the most essential networks. In St. Louis, which receives FOX Sports Midwest, viewers rated their local RSN as more essential than any other channel, including the broadcast networks. In Detroit, home of FOX Sports Detroit, viewers rank their RSN as the second most essential network. FOX Sports Regional Networks President Jeff Krolik said: “We have long known that our RSNs are akin to the fifth broadcast network in their markets in terms of ratings, and Nielsen’s research confirms the remarkable importance of these networks to viewers. Local sports are tribal, and RSNs inspire the same loyalty and connection as the hometown teams they bring to fans.” Findings from Nielsen’s research are supported by the ratings received by RSNs across the country.
