On turning to other sources of information, the curious fact appeared that for a century past the litera- ture of the subject has been widely influenced by the spurious Itinerary attributed to Richard of Cirencester. Though that was long ago shown to be a forgery, statements derived from it, and suppositions founded upon them, are continually repeated, casting suspicion sometimes unde- served on accounts which prove to be otherwise accurate. A wide publicity, and some semblance of authority, have been given to imaginary roads and stations by the new Ordnance maps. Those who early in the last century, under the influence of the new Itinerary, traced the Roman roads, unfortunately left but scanty accounts of the remains which came under their notice, many of which have since been destroyed or covered up in the making of modern roads; and with the evidence now available few Roman roads can be traced continuously. The gaps can often be filled with reasonable certainty, but more often the precise course is doubtful, and the entire course of some roads connecting known stations of the Itinerary of Antonine can only be guessed at.

What is the Community Plan (CP)? The CP sets out ideas and priorities for each subject area. Each of these ideas, based on priority, form the basis of consultation with the community to identify what actions the community would like to see happen. Those actions may then be delivered by Wiltshire Council, other services, voluntary organisations or Parish Councils, or indeed a combination of these organisations. PCAP’s role is to identify the actions and to assist in realising the projects or changes required. How is PCAP organised?     Pewsey Community Area Status Report – Jan 2021 Background and context The overarching aim of this document is for Pewsey Area Board and its partners to obtain a better awareness of the issues within the Pewsey Community Area. This in turn will inform our understanding of how to support local responses from communities, businesses and organisations and link this to the work of Wiltshire Council, it’s partners and agencies, so that collaboratively we can tackle these issues including those arising from Covid-19. The Pewsey community area has seen an incredible response to the COVID19 pandemic with volunteers leading the response and strategic partners working collaboratively to support our communities. Every person within the area has access to support from one of the community groups that were set up, some of which have gone on to offer additional services for the community. This builds upon a foundation of strong partnership working between the community and supporting organisations. As we look ahead, this document provides a summary of information that can help inform the local community response. It brings together many of the differing data and information sources from across the community area that will help us to understand the state of our community and some of the impact of COVID-19. It also highlights communities that may have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic and it considers how the actions, projects and plans that are emerging will be collated and supported. Over time this document will need to be updated in response to changes, new information and actions undertaken. Whilst the impact of COVID-19 in some areas is considerable, it is recognised that many of the issues identified in this report were existing ones.

Waylen he object of this paper is to exhibit some of the various methods for raising money put in practice in Wiltshire during the Civil War by such of the resident gentry as were favourable to the Parliament's cause.1 The first Tstanding Committee for the county was organised at the close of the year 1642 in pursuance of a Parliamentary Ordinance applicable to the whole of England, and levying a weekly, assessment of so much in the pound; though this by no means represents the various forms of appeal made from time to time as the struggle went on. On the other hand, the King also had his Committee. At least he occasionally nominated local groups of his friends for a variety of objects in his own behalf; but their action was spasmodic and their existence very brief. The poor people, meanwhile, whenever this double action was put in force, found themselves ground between two millstones. If the Royalist visitations were sweeping and desolating, those of the Committees were systematic and perennial. Abstract Children’s relationships with their physical school: Considerations of primary school architecture and furniture design in a social and cultural context By Robert Ian Cullis In recent years substantial investment has been made to replace or refurbish state schools in England and Wales and, although research has unsuccessfully sought to prove its contribution, the discipline of Design continues to be identified as a facilitator of educational transformation. Results to date, however, are mixed and there is an evident failing at the design briefing stage to understand how children interact with their educational settings and, notably, an avoidance of direct challenge to the primary school classroom and its practice. In response, this thesis asks how the social and cultural study of children’s relationships with their physical school can suggest a meaningful approach to primary school architecture and furniture design. A model of well-being is developed to clarify misused terminology and to present a realistic expectation of design in which the contradictory goals of inclusion and the development of the individual are appraised.
