I especially come in the dreams of children who know me and are spiritually inclined. The minds of children are very clean, pure and open and it is very easy for me to contact them in their dreams. Sometimes devotees may ask certain questions from me in their prayers, and I give them the answer in a simple, short but lucid dream. If people are sick and living on the other side of the world, I may come to them in their dreams and heal them. For the truly searching spiritual aspirants who are sincerely praying for enlightenment and spiritual clarification, I may come in their dream and infuse energy into them which brings them to a higher state of mind. May your dreams be filled with divine blessings.” HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2 Prema Ananda Vahini January 2019 Satsang with Swamiji Divine Mother’s blessings mbodiments of the Divine! Looking at all your faces, I pray to the E Mother Goddess that this year will be a good one. May you all receive her blessings throughout the coming year. We have prayed traditionally to the Mother Goddess for thousands and thousands of years. May she give you peace in life and prosperity in whatever endeavours you undertake. May she bless you with a healthy and contented life without disease. I pray to the Divine Mother that her great son, Lord Vighneshvara, the remover of obstacles, helps you to achieve all that you desire, not only in your personal lives but also in your countries. May you all have divine thoughts and divine blessings this year. The human race today needs divine blessings because it is floundering in mistrust, doubt, anger, competition, jealousy and all the other negative qualities that are the cause of wars, violence and atrocities in this world. Only if the Mother comes into our lives can we free ourselves from all problems, doubts and insecurities. Ask her – who else is there except her to surround this planet and each individual with blessings, just as the plants in the earth are surrounded with nurturing moisture? She has many names and forms. If she does not help us, who else will? When we think of her, our egoism will leave us, our jealousies will vanish, and competitiveness will run away. Whatever you ask of her sincerely, she gives. She never disappoints you. She is with us at all times. Her grace is with us always. She is energizing us in our day-to-day activities. It is good to constantly remember this fact. If you surrender yourself at her feet, she will definitely work through you. She will illumine your spiritual path too. If you always want to smell the fragrance of the jasmine flowers around you, will you rub your nose on the stem of the plant? No! You will walk beside the plant taking in the lovely fragrance that is emanating from its blossomed flowers. You can learn to walk beside Divinity in the same way, not with egoism and aggression but with simple humility and love. Then the fragrance of Divinity will envelop you. The closer you go to Divinity, the more its fragrance will attract you and surround you. When you go close to the spiritual master, you will smell 3 Prema Ananda Vahini January 2019 the divine perfume. You cannot reach Divinity except through the spiritual master. Therefore, go closer to the master in your heart and mind. May this year be a favourable one to obtain the grace of the master. If you think of God and your master on New Year’s Day, you receive double blessings. You have gained the “The closer you go opportunity of walking the spiritual path due to good deeds you performed in previous births. Now you have good to Divinity, the karma because of those acts, but not all are so fortunate. more its fragrance There are many millions of human beings, but only a small number receives such an opportunity. It is God’s will. will attract you and surround you. If you have the wonderful gift to obtain the grace of the Mother Goddess, she will come in innumerable forms and When you go close names to give you blessings. You have had the fortune of a to the spiritual good birth and upbringing in a spiritual atmosphere. So too will you experience the benefit of such a good upbringing. master, you will Your minds may still wander and run from here to there, smell the divine making you confused and unable to see your way in life. However, if you have faith in the Divine Mother, you can perfume.” bring your mind back under control. Have faith in her. Recite her many names and experience peace. Try to show her true devotion. Sometimes it is selfishness that prompts you to show devotion. Real devotion means the dissolution of the small self of the devotee into the Universal Self. There cannot be selfishness in such devotion. If you always pray to the Divine to ask for worldly favours, then it is not real devotion. If you spend time in the company of saints and sages or in their ashrams, much of your previous karma will ease and dissolve in their presence and high energy. May all your desires and the wishes you have asked of me be fulfilled. I pray to the Divine Mother that all your problems and difficulties will be overcome and that the New Year ushers in peace and contentment. 4 Prema Ananda Vahini January 2019 “This month I will tell you about saints and sages who lived on this earth before the Kali Yuga began. A lady called Machakanni gave birth to a son, Vyasa – later to become Saint Vyasa – on the shores of the Yamuna River. Vyasa in turn had a son called Sukra who also became a saint. Do you know how Sukra was born? The father performed a yagam and offered many different herbs and ghee. Shakti emerged from the yagam and, through her power, Sukra was born. Vyasa was a man of great devotion who expertly performed yagams and did much meditation. He worshipped Shakti, the Divine Mother. When he called out to Shakti with pure devotion, she used to appear to him personally and grant the boons he asked for. In accordance with divine law, he did not use the boons granted by Shakti for his own benefit but for the benefit of humankind and in order to do good to others. Many of you know about the avatar, Lord Rama. His wife was Sita and her father was King Janaka. Vyasa lived with the royal family and did much good. He had a lot of powers and he was also a divine incarnation. He was so powerful that when he called for Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara, they appeared before him. So, at that time, people like this lived here on this Earth. Today we live on this planet without any knowledge of these things. In earlier times people used to do abhishekam, yagam and meditation with one-pointed minds and were able to reach a very high state. Although there are also such people alive today, we live in the modern world without understanding them. The purpose of their actions is to uplift the people living in the Kali Yuga. You should understand this. If you go through the puranas and history you will find many true stories like this. However, people today are involved in their worldly lives, they have worldly longings and spend their time in satisfying their desires. It is now more common to find this type of people. In order to set people on a good path, Centres are being started in every country and, through these Centres, good messages are given. People’s problems and difficulties are being solved and we help them to attain peace of mind. We do our best to encourage them to go on the correct path and to bring them to a higher level. I am trying to develop today’s youth so that they will have a good life, one in which they respect their parents and correct their mistakes. I am steering them onto the good path and bringing them to a good state in life. May you all grow on the spiritual path with the blessings of Shakti!” 5 Prema Ananda Vahini January 2019 Christmas in the Ashram On Christmas Eve we gathered together to celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ serenely and joyfully. In the Pooja Hall, which had been decorated with a Christmas manger and lights, we read a satsang from Swamiji about Jesus and sang both English and Tamil Christmas carols. On Christmas day we gaily sang “Jingle Bells” while awaiting the arrival of Father Christmas or, as the children here call him, Christmas Tata. Needless to say, the children were happy and excited when he entered the Pooja Hall to distribute gift packets to everyone! Christmas decorations and Father Christmas distributing gifts to the children 6 Prema Ananda Vahini January 2019 Experiences with Swamiji Interview with Dr. Chandradevi Last November we mourned the passing of Dr.

News from the Premananda Youth “Surrender yourself to the One without name and form, permanently remove all impurities from your mind and carry out your duties with devotion and a reverent awe of God. In this way you will live a worthy life, one in which you will be able to become aware of the ultimate truth.” 1 Prema Ananda Vahini July 2018 Satsang with Swamiji (This satsang was given by Swamiji for Gurupoornima in the Sri Premananda Ashram, India, in 1993) Do we value the great spiritual beings and their deeply meaningful messages? How are we going to reach God in this lifetime? How will we receive God’s grace and absorb God’s spiritual teachings? We never think about these things. The fact that avatars, siddhas, highly developed beings, sages and people with great powers are born on this Earth is not a miraculous occurrence. Many great beings have been born on Earth. Today we talk about these great beings simply in historical terms and we read about them in the same way as we read stories in books. In this country there are such great spiritual beings living even today. We should think about how much we respect them. The avatars, siddhas, sages and spiritually evolved souls who were born on this soil gave us deeply meaningful messages.

I successfully prosecuted the first derivative action in law in Sri Lanka on a fraud on the State, with the Supreme Court observing - ‘as a serious case of fraud, with real prospect of being successfully proven, and that interim injunctions had been issued to prevent the devious syphoning of a large scale of foreign exchange from the country’ – Ameresekere v. Mitsui & Co. Ltd., & Others [1992] Law Reports of the Commonwealth (Comm). I am a professional practising since 1974. In the last 25 years, I have developed into commercial litigation support services, and acting and litigating in the public interest on combatting fraud and corruption, and challenging in the Supreme Court Bills to be enacted, including an all pervasive amnesty castigated by the Supreme Court - ‘as inimical to the rule of law and violative of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Civil & Political Rights”, and that it had defrauded public revenue, causing extensive loss to the State’, and also an Appropriation Bill, which was castigated by the Supreme Court - ‘as the Secretary to the Treasury having been operating a “Budget” of his own’.

The One Without Name or Form – Don’t be a Beggar “In your life the problems you face are the first tests that help you get closer to God. Don’t think that problems are agonizing and move away from God. The only way in which you can get closer to God is to face difficulties.” Swami Premananda 1 Prema Ananda Vahini JULY 2016 Satsang with Swamiji How to Develop Yourself on the Spiritual Path This is part of a satsang that Swamiji gave in the Ashram in February 1993 We have come to this world with various thoughts. We have started a journey but where do we intend to go? You can go anywhere you like. There is no specified route that you should take on this journey to say that this is the path you should tread. Lord Jesus Christ gave people a route to take, why don’t you take that route? After the Old Testament was written they then wrote the New Testament but now they have closed the Bible and have even stopped going to Church. The prophet Mohammed came into this world and stated beautiful thoughts which are in the Quran. Lord Buddha came into this world and taught the path of meditation, yoga and so on and thereafter so many saints and sages came into this world.
